I see a lot of people cheering for the "you have to verify your age to look at porn" bill as some victory, and I can almost get why it seems so well-intended on the surface.

Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is a lot can go wrong when you let a third party handle your PII (necessary to make sure that you're "of age" for such things) but also it sets a very WEF-y and very dangerous precedent — it sets a step for the online ID thing, and nope, that's not going to fly at all.

@meneer
It kind of boggles my mind how quantum safe encryption is even a thing that can be achieved, especially without the use of quantum computing itself.

Does anyone know a good basic primer for someone who understands standard encryption (just) but isn't any kind of computer scientist / theoretical mathematician etc?

@coolboymew Take advantage of your home ownership and grow your own food.

Oh no! I need to include support robotic hands that do touch sign language to narrate the output for the Helen Keller's out there! Oh wait! What if they don't have any arms either?

Just accept that society can't reasonably accommodate for every disability out there. Accessibility isn't a bad thing, but you have to cut off at some point.

The Corn Demons:

Corn is virtually indigestible to the human system and you get very little nutrition from it compared with other grains. If you eat enough of it, or if you compress it into syrup and eat it, it makes you fat even as you starve, and it rots you from the inside out.

Corn originated in South America and was spread north during the height of Cahokia/Mississippian civilization circa 1200 AD. Legends about its origin are pretty consistent in that it was given to humanity through dark witchcraft.

The Aztec gods (demons) ruled central and South America until Cortez deposed the Aztecs, but South America never really converted en masse. Mexico especially turned against Catholicism for a pretty long period of its history, and even now, people there turn to syncretic shit like Santa Muerte long before they'll actually say Catholic prayers. Similarly in the Amazon, Pachamama is worshipped more commonly than God.

Anyway, the US started to use corn syrup as a substitute for sugar post-1959 since sugar was mostly sourced from Cuba and they had a communist revolution then, which was followed by embargoes. 1959 is also around the time the CIA was really ramping up mkultra, around the time drugs/sex/rock'n roll were being used to spread cult devotions, and in the midst of the spiritual weirdness unleashed on the US in the 1960s.

Corn syrup is now put into virtually every food in the US. It's also put into gasoline to dilute it and make it more """sustainable."""

US glowies and their handlers have some really dark pacts with demons that keep them in power, and the Corn Demons are somewhere in there among the many entities they've sold their souls to.

@djsumdog @beardalaxy People were able to non-comply out of full-body scanners a decade ago, I'm surprised that nobody thought to do the same with everything else they are implementing.

Though things are going to get worse as many places now require fingerprinting, facial recognition, and soon, digital IDs. It really makes me wish that more people are willing to stand their ground.

@beardalaxy @djsumdog For all we know, they could also be faking the statistics.

@straw Yeah. I'm not going to use a chat service if E2EE is only available on mobile.

@mischievoustomato @straw @allison @kirby Not many people use it for MUCs, but the Tails GNU/Linux distro uses an XMPP room instead of an IRC channel.
