The strategy involves inflating the GDP through excessive government spending, creating an uncontrollable deficit during a period of economic recovery, and masking employment through government jobs financed by increased debt.

Today’s economic challenges are frequently blamed upon “late-stage capitalism.” But is this truly a failure of capitalism? Or are we seeing the effects of another economic model entirely?

In a surprise move, the local government of West Australian mining town Port Hedland is calling for immediate suspension of the Moderna and Pfizer Covid vaccines pending an investigation into evidence of excessive levels of synthetic DNA in the shots.

@Witch_Hunter_Siegfired @PurpCat @arc @Mr_NutterButter I mean, I do agree that space colonization is much harder than proponents make it out to be. I'm not saying that it is impossible, but if it does happen, it's not going to be like the movies, and life for the colonists will probably be a living hell at least until the colonies become self-sustainable.

I just don't get why it's such a divisive issue. Regardless on whether or not you have faith in it, I don't see why you should stop people from at least trying.

Today may be the last day for YOU to EFFECTIVELY voice your opposition to the World Health Organization's "Pandemic Agreement." On Monday, November 11, 2024 a decision will be announced. SPEAK UP NOW!

@PurpCat @arc @Mr_NutterButter Just looking at old-school Internet forums has shown me how much has changed. At least on those, all of the debates and political discussions would be contained in certain subforums and people got along outside of said subforums.

I talked about this a while back, but there is this forum for the unofficial Quintet/Soul Blazer trilogy called TerraEarth. It's still around, but nowhere near as active as it used to be. On it, there is a subforum for debates, except these debates are nothing like the right-wing (or left-wing) bloodsports we see today. There is almost zero ideological bias. People came up with some of the craziest conspiracy theories. People from all over (and off) the political compass had open minded discussions, and nothing was off the table. Of course, people naturally argued, but people didn't cancel or make lolcows out of each other. And it being all contained in a single subforum meant that participating in such debates is 100% optional. You almost never find that happening today unless you really know where to look.

But besides that, the other thing I don't like about the modern Internet is that you really can't just use the Internet just to show of your creativity anymore. You HAVE to pick a side. It's inevitable that someone with a pink and cyan striped flag will point a gun to your head, asking you to say "trans rights". Hell, even merely choosing what community or platform to be on (leftists on BlueSky, boomer rightoids on Gab and Minds, etc) is a political statement in of itself.

@PurpCat @arc @Mr_NutterButter It's pretty sad really. A lot of these Poastoids are probably younger than I am, and they probably only know Internet culture for getting into shitty arguments with people online, constantly having to pick a side on every issue, and trying to make a lolcow out of everyone they disagree with.

@PurpCat @arc @Mr_NutterButter Poastoids fight over the most retarded shit. It's part of the reason why I mostly stopped caring about the "dissident right". Link related.

@Hoss @jeffcliff the thing with KF is simple: big tech associated "activists" were actually paying people on Discord to file reports or were having 6am "girl talks" with hosting providers to take down a singular site.

The other problem with KF is that is way higher profile than say, the sharty, zoomer "ironic" sadist discords, and whatnot. Thanks to a broken person blaming his suicide on the site (and not his shitty "friends", lockdowns, or something that was more likely the cause) and the site constantly making fun of a certain untouchable group, there are autism fatwas against the site by "consent accident" enjoyers.

We gotta understand that not all people can switch to Firefox, or daily drive GrapheneOS, or search in DuckDuckGo, or migrate to Proton Mail, or from Twitter to Mastodon.

If only that was sufficient anyways...

I agree with the sentiment here, but I can definitely understand the desire to push hard given how... dire things are.
On some level, you have to take a zero-tolerance stance with how things are currently run to forge a different path.

That said, I would encourage you to be kind and patient about it!

Heartwarming. The worst people you know are all getting screwed over.

@Pawlicker This is exactly why I was always skeptical of Gab since Day 1.
