@vokainen099 @PurpCat I never liked the site. I've always preferred traditional forums and imageboards, but services like Discord and even Telegram are arguably worse.

@Forestofenchantment @PurpCat So they are in even worse places now. At least Reddit allows you to lurk.

@PurpCat People said that Reddit was dead after the controversial API changes, but people still use it.

@Mr_NutterButter A white market store can still accept Monero as long as they report it on their taxes. Monero isn't illegal (at least not in the US), but purchasing it is difficult. You need to buy Bitcoin and then exchange it for Monero. Stake-n-Shake could accept Monero while still being in the white market. The IRS doesn't really care about what the customers are doing, only the merchants.

Granted Monero still allows them to cheat on their taxes, but they could also cheat on their cash transactions, so it's a moot point.

But of course, Stake-N-Shake probably won't accept XMR anyway because of the difficulty purchasing Monero as I said earlier. It will only appeal to a small number of tech-savvy customers.

@Mr_NutterButter Trump included Ethereum and Ripple in his Bitcoin Strategic Reserve. Both of them are in fact CBDC blockchains. The founder of ETH even took a trip to Davos to hold a talk at the World Economic Forum. These coins are centralized and can be premined, or have their entire blockchains rolled-back. That's what they are designed to do.

I don't think crypto itself is a trojan horse for CBDC but the government endorsing some cryptocurrencies certainly is.

Well, it seems like the OGA Discord also suffers from in-activity, just like their forum, at least in their "requests" channel. I'm still waiting and hoping for someone to reply, but I do need to find a plan B.

Wow! All those tech oligarch billionaires who stole 500 billion from the middle and lower classes and wanted us dead less than five years are "our guys" now? That's totally organic and not at all suspicious!

@PunishedD @PurpCat The problem is that Bitcoin is even less private than credit cards or debit cards, unless you are practicing maximum OPSEC. Anyone can see who is exchanging with who on the blockchain. Anyone can be stalking you and see that you like to eat at Stake-n-Shake.

I mean, I would be fine with it if they also accepted other currencies (not necessarily cryptocurrencies) in addition to Bitcoin and fiat. Monero could be an option for those who know how to use it, but that also assumes that each individual store owner knows how to use Monero. Besides that, there are these notes called Goldbacks which have actual gold coated onto them. They are even legal tender in some states. I wouldn't mind Steak-n-Shake accepted those in states where they are considered legal tender.

@PurpCat I know that. I am happy that they are doing that, but this whole Bitcoin thing seems to be them appeasing the Trump administration and it's just going to draw in idiots who think Bitcoin is a panacea and have never heard of Monero. But that's probably what Trump and Elon truly want.

>Stake-n-Shake is considering accepting Bitcoin

I wish I could be excited, but I doubt that they are going to accept anything beyond that. I don't even trust vanilla Bitcoin anymore given it's sudden support from the government. I highly doubt that they would ever accept anything that is actually private like Monero.

So did we just see Cloudflare lock down the internet to a select whitelist of browsers?

Ungoogled Chromium is just fucked?

I did a post on donations I've made to alternative media and open source software this year. I take a couple of digs at the No Agenda grift too, while I was at it.
