@coolboymew @Moon They probably have it because they know it's going to be useless, so it's okay to dumb it down.
@coolboymew @Moon
>I absolutely question such classes existence
They only make philosophy classes mandatory because almost nobody would take them otherwise and the philosophy professors would be underpayed. It's not about "expanding your mind". It's about paying the professors for useless courses.
Philosophy isn't required in my college, but my guidance counselor added Logic to my schedule during my Freshman year (we couldn't choose a schedule for first semester). I fucking failed that class. He thought that CS majors should take it to understand if-statements, but literally anyone can understand a fucking if-statement without a semester long class about proving theorems through deduction. Granted I think I would've passed it now. I was still in my lazy high school student mindset and wasn't aware that professors list all the homework assignments on their syllabi.
There is literally no point in having these classes. People who major in philosophy just to "expand their minds" are just wasting their time and money. You can just learn this shit on your own. I don't go to college to "expand my mind". I go there to learn what I need to know for my career path and get a degree. For the vast majority of students, whatever political/social/philosophic issues you bring are just going to go through their heads.
@Moon That and sociology.
psa for switch users, google analytics
oh wow what do you know, nintendo's doing shady shit again
they did not announce they'd introduce google analytics in 11.0.0 (the most recent update), but there is a way to turn it off

@takao @ChristiJunior @rasterman I also heard that the developers were more experienced with text-adventures games and then jumped straight to 3D.
@thestrongest @coolboymew They better not name the new Zelda game BotW2. And I'm sure the Metroid is fake because there was a cancelled Metroid Dread (had no relation to Prime) for the DS and I doubt their going to remake it and make it part of the Metroid Prime series.
@djsumdog @Terry @coolboymew @thestrongest Blogs are really only useful for posting updates on a project such as an indie game or for transparency reports on some service like a Fedi instance.

@coolboymew @djsumdog @Terry @thestrongest There's a lot more creativity when it comes to personal websites compared to the wall gardens of social media. That's what sites like Neocities and Tilde.club are trying to bring back, but from my experience, it's mostly used to host weird HTML/JavaScript demos. The problem is that most people don't have anything worth hosting on these types of sites so they end up being a waste of server space. However, I still think there is a place for sites like the one you mentioned.
People overestimate how hard it is to create a basic website. HTML/CSS isn't that hard to learn and even then, you can make static web pages using most word processors. No need for expensive/bloated shit like Dreamweaver.
@coolboymew @djsumdog @Terry @thestrongest I think the apolitical worked well because their weren't any centralized hubs for discussion. If you wanted to talk about politics, you talk about them in whatever politics forum/newsgroup/chatroom there was. Now, everyone is using sites like Facebook and Twitter to talk about politics which bleeds into conversations about other stuff and when the owners of those sites start banning certain ideologies, the diasporas are just hiveminds for said ideologies.
We need to bring independent sites and forums that ban political discussions and have forums dedicated to them.
@matrix You seem to be the only one still excited for this. The game looks like is going to be a disaster.
