Pretty hillarious to see one of the most hostile towards Linux hardware companies is now one of the board memebers at RISC-V.
It would be either a good sign because we finally get actually working NVIDIA hardware on Linux and BSD, or a bad sign because they could potentially start infiltrating the free hardware space before it even started.

But in all seriousness, serving other instances unwanted ads that you're getting paid to run is literally just spam. That's not what he's doing, this will only be visible to local instance users.
If your users won't pay to keep the server running, then ad integration in lieu of shutdown makes sense. Though this definitely needs integration with the patron system, because people paying to keep your server running shouldn't also have to see ads.
