@arcanicanis @eriner @alex W3C is not about standards anymore, it's about status. Often people who write specs don't care about implementers at all, and if anything useful comes from W3C, be it ActivityPub or Data Integrity spec, it's almost like a miracle.
Verifiable Credentials at least gets recognized by developers outside of W3C bubble, though personally I don't see much value there besides Data Integrity spec and cryptosuites. The only parties who seem to be genuinely interested in Verifiable Credentials are governments that roll out dystopian digital ID and social credit systems, as this post suggests:
This is the story of the blue, and therefore white LED. It’s also a human story. Amazing how recent was the blue LED problem finally solved. The video is rather technical in the first half, albeit in a very accessible way.
I understand many of you have misgivings about LED. Hopefully this might alleviate it somewhat.
@PurpCat CP spam along with fedposting is why we can't have nice things.
@PurpCat Back when I was in middle school and high school, there was a hotline that we could report bullying and it was 100% anonymous (unless they were recording phone numbers).
@PurpCat I could see CP spammers abusing it to the point where you can't even use it without stumbling upon or accidentally hosting cheese pizza. That's what basically killed ZeroNet, but I'm pretty sure it's possible for nodes to block users that do this shit.
I also like how this set-up basically prevents the whole fediblock culture you see on here. People are forced to block/mute on an individual basis.
So I got back into Nostr after a several month hiatus. It seems like the zap begging has died down. It honestly reminds me of pre-Poast, pre-Elon fedi. It's more laid-back and open-minded (with a slight right-libertarian bias, but that's to be expected), and doesn't have the pedos, glowies, schizos, or dramatards (yet).
@LukeAlmighty @icedquinn The elites are trying to prevent us from doing both.
