@LukeAlmighty I agree that ads are the least of our worries. Using surveillance for things like social credit or government control is much more evil. But it would be nice if ads went back to what they were a few decades ago: non-targeted and didn't hog resources.

I tried to make crudely drawn skeleton sprites based on this 16x16 character base sprite.

It turns out that I can't draw a skull from the side so it ends up looking weird from the profile view. It still looks small compared to the player sprite, but I plan on using the same base sprite for the player.

@foone did you ever see the YotaPhone? It was a normal Android mobile on one side, but if you flipped it over the screen would mirror onto a very fast e-ink display.

@picofarad I don't plan on using it with Windows. I only use Linux unless I absolutely have to use something else.

I need to save up for a REALLY powerful PC so I can generate this stuff locally without some shitty service that fucks you over with their restrictive terms of service. I'm sick of relying on stock assets and I can never be a good artist due to hand dexterity issues.

So I found an online AI tool for generating game assets, but it looks like it can only generate generic mobile indieshit icons, and of course the TOS probably has some condition where they still own the assets it generates, so it's fucking useless.

Don't get me wrong, Telegram is jank in many ways (good luck with making an account with a VoIP number) but it's so funny how every FOSS advocate just seems to miss how Discord got big.

Discord got so big because you don't need to make an account to use it in many servers (or you didn't for the longest time) and then it'd rope you into using it, and you could use it in the browser.

Downloading 4000 things and self hosting is too much to ask for even the MCSA/MCSE cert having IT guy whose day job is giving coworkers the laptop provisioned with Windows Autopilot and making sure the darn thing works, let alone your furry friend online who wants to have the latest ErP Ready technology.

Science requires questioning the current paradigms and orthodoxies. And the harder the "authorities" resist being questioned, the more likely it is that they're wrong.

When you vote for a Republican, you get a Democrat.

Funny how that works...
