@Zergling_man @vokainen099 Yeah. I have a firstname-lastname cock.li email with one of the few SFW domains they had. I've applied to jobs with it among other things and nobody ever batted a single eye, except for my Dad who told me to delete it and use Gmail instead.

Here is the basic implementation of the map zoom function. As you can see it saves your spot for the zoom, even when exiting and entering the map.
This is just with the current map image in the game. What I'll do is have a higher resolution image (200%) and swap it out with the lower resolution one whenever you zoom in. Just have to make that version. I have the higher resolution asset so it won't be an issue.
What do you think of the speed of the movement? Too slow? Too fast? Would you like to see it more zoomed in?
There will be prompts on the screen to tell you how to control the map, just haven't gotten to that yet.

Some people in #Iran successfully use delta with national email providers when outside Internet is cut.

#deltachat designs are #OfflineFirst using delay tolerant protocols. Messages are queued when a path is blocked. email servers are made for this and run at planetary scale.
Messages crossing the border may arrive three days later but they arrive.

Peoples can stay in private touch across time and space, to the extent possible in current breakdown times. Which is what delta is about.

@deprecated_ii Corruption at all levels of government. The USDA and organizations like it exist to cause problems for small businesses, not enforce the law on big businesses

@beardalaxy Cock.li got hacked due to an exploit that was recently found in RoundCube (their webmail software). It's still usable through desktop mail clients though, but that service has gone through so many security breaches and legal trouble (mostly due to VC's incompetence, and the services targeted audience) that I don't think it's trustworthy mail service outside of throw away accounts anymore.

@vokainen099 Fedora Mail had it's registrations permanently closed for over a year now because someone made a throw away account to send a bomb threat. I think @j could open an account if you ask him though.

So I've got a SPARCStation 10 with a 50mhz something CPU, idk how much RAM, and a cgsix framebuffer. What OS should I install on it?

With the recent-ish cock.li situation along with previous events surrounding it and Fedora Mail, I don't think I can trust email services run by a single guy anymore, especially if they target the imageboard crowd and/or use meme domains.

I think I'm going to use Posteo for now on. They same to go out of their way to respect user-privacy despite being for-profit and being payed means that it is less likely to be used for some bomb-threat or something like that (hopefully).

@realcaseyrollins @Yoruka @cjd @fba How big would something have to be in order to be considered a "society"? Would something like a China-town or a Native American Reservation fit the idea of "freedom of association"?

Wait wait wait, what exactly is the difference between free association and discrimination?

I mean, doesn't free association also include the freedom to NOT associate with people you don't want to - for any reason?

How do you differentiate those things? Is it a limitation on the freedom? Like meaning you have freedom of association BUT not if you're making your determination of who to associate with based on race?

Of is it a limitation on the definition of association? So like it's association to decide who you invite to your house, and who can join your private club, but who you hire and who can live in your neighborhood is not association?

I don't see anything inherently bad or dangerous about X-nationalism. It's free association, people want to hang out with others who share the same genes, why not?

Something that I noticed in the FOSS and decentralized tech movements (outside of the crypto space) is that there aren't that many incentives to get small businesses to become less dependent on Big Tech which I think is a problem. Small businesses are at the mercy of Big Tech services for web hosting, email, etc and most business owners aren't tech savvy enough to self-host or find alternatives.

I think this is a hole that should be filled by FOSS/decentralized tech developers and activists. There should be more easy to use tools for self-hosting, communication, and other things that small businesses need that are open-source and decentralized. Along with support and advocacy groups to help promote them. I think RetroShare and YunoHost are such tools that could be great for small businesses, but I rarely see any promotion for them.

Unfortunately, there seems to be an extreme anti-capitalist sentiment in the FOSS and decentralized tech communities and would be opposed to this. Personally, I think this is much different than something like Meta creating a fediverse instance with the plan to EEE it. Trying to fight for a decentralized future also means to get your local Mom & Pop shop off of Big Tech.
