@gabriel I'm lucky that my extended family decided to use SMS group chats in place of Facebook, even if some of them still use it.

I don't know much about Facebook Marketplace. I still see plenty of ads on my local craigslist, even if they items they're selling require a bit of a drive.

Feeling a bit of FOMO from refusing to have a Facebook account for years.
It's weird to ask the fedi about this, but does having a facebook account actually matter in 2025?
Ironically I think Facebook Marketplace is what I'm missing out the most on because many people refuse to use anything else...

Hopefully, the recent ban of adult games on Steam will bring back self-hosted indie games, even if it's mostly adult games.

Google Gemini just lost a chess match with an Atari 2600 from the Ordovician Era.

The Atari 2600 had 128 bytes of RAM.

That is not a typo.

My weakness is loving the modern world. While culturally things keep getting worse most technology is getting better and I like it, with the exception of the surveillance 'features', which mean I can't fully enjoy things like smartphones.

By weakness I mean I get genuinely angry when people attack modern life and technological innovation with blackpilled, cynical drivel. I truly hate such people and hope they all die in fires.

@Eleutheria2 @usluck Nobody uses "alt-lite" anymore, especially since they've been proven to be no different than neocons.

@usluck >releasing the names of child rapists is child porn

Please, alt-lite. Please stop. Every time I think I've seen the most retarded take about the files, another one of you pipes up!

Microsoft president Brad Smith acknowledged that the four rounds of layoffs this year are more about using the money saved to fund AI data centers and GPUs than workers being replaced by AI.

I think this is important for the media to get right versus making it seem like ChatGPT can replace a human worker.

@frost Take note that I'm talking about vacations (i.e being away from work AND home) and not just weekends or days off. Even when I'm unemployed or have extended time off, it's harder for me to get into that gamedev mindset than when I'm away from home.

This may sound strange, but the times when I want to work on gamedev stuff the most is when I'm on vacation when I should be spending time with my family and all that.

Maybe it's because I see new things and places and they give me inspiration for video game locations or it's just not being in a familiar location frees the mind and makes you feel more productive.
