@sun I remain proud of having never read any of his writing.

Either way, I don't think I would recommend Omarchy, just from the security issues and the vibe-coded nature alone. If you want a non-woke distro, either OpenMandriva or Devuan is probably your best bet.

If FOSS wasn't important you wouldn't see so many resources thrown at pitting people working on it against each other.

It's a shame to watch important work Cointelpro'd in real-time.

@neatnik Are you implying a chudware Linux distro can become the distro to end all distros? A OS that could get enough support so most software don't just crash because of retarded devs dramafagging and focusing on petty small features?
Are you implying Omarchy is Temple OS resurrected after the third day?

Are we deadass? 💀 :gura_think:

apparently curtis "mencius moldbug" yarvin is now calling anti flock camera right wingers "cranks". I think we can trust this guy, who is bankrolled by palantir, while palantir in turn is the entity consuming flock camera data.

I'm starting to think that Omarchy exists for the same reason that Drew DeVault exists, to fracture the Linux/FOSS community by creating pointless drama. From the looks of it, I think both sides are in on it to destroy FOSS and make it unusable in most circumstances.

it's interesting, from what i've observed women gamers are usually either into the most surface level, hyper popular games possible... or they are into shit i didn't even know existed. there's no middle ground. there are no women playing AA or indie games. it's either league of legends and overwatch, or a ps1 fmv game that somehow had online connectivity if you brought your memory card to an arcade in japan.

LG responded to Gamers Nexus investigation on TVs spying on their viewers with more or less a denial. LG is spying on your TV watching EVEN IF you only use it as a dumb input for another device like a DVD player, computer, or similar device. Automatic Content Recognition isn't new, but it's so much worse than anyone understood prior. It's also listening to what others are saying without their permission who do not know and violating laws in some states (wiretapping).

One of the things making it worse is that LG TVs will scan for and connect to open access points. Maybe even restricted cable provider access points it has access to in order to upload the spying apparatuses data (ie your TV). So not connecting your TV to a network isn't enough.

Effectively even if you remove the wifi card and never connect your TV to a network the TV contains potentially incriminating information about your computer/TV watching habits because it's recording to storage tons of data on you. Given the massive storage capacities and conversion of voice and imagery on the screen it does not need to store images themselves, but fingerprints of those images is enough. Though voice takes up relatively little space too.

There is NO solution to this problem for 'big screen TVs' (I believe anything over 43") as all TV manufacturers incorporate at least ACR (Automatic Content Recognition) among other spying apparatuses into modern televisions on the market today. In fact some of these are built right into the TV standards (ASTC 3.0 I believe).

The US is banning foreign manufactured routers on 'national security' grounds over the mere possibility of data ending up in China's hands, but it's nowhere near as dangerous as the data smart TVs send.

@djsumdog @meso @Dan_Ramos It's conjecture because it's all fake. This trial is literally copied beat for beat from an Irish trial back in 2020, right down to the dates (minus the years) and the first initials of the children's names.

The beautiful farmland across the Howe of Fife. One of the best areas of farmland in Scotland. Prime farmland is national infrastructure. It should not be used for data centres or plastering solar panels across thousands of acres. Once the farmland is gone, it’s gone forever. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@anemone @condret in both mozilla and gnome there are money paid to contractors and if you try to find out more about the contractor it leads to like, address of empty house in new jersey for example. could be real sole proprietor contractor. more likely people are slipping in payments for no work to friends, not necessarily "politically nefarious".

I don't trust lunduke either, he's deceptive, but in the past things he did he at least came with receipts.

@anemone @condret neither of them are really misappropriation of funds nor laundering, in both accusations they are colloquial and mean "spent money on things that aren't publicly traceable or are not really related to the code". the difference today is that lunduke actually did document it with references and accusation against omarchy, even if plausible, did not

@sun I think both sides are in on it to destroy FOSS.

@coolboymew @ube He's one of those NRx types, people like Curtis Yarvin. They want city-states that compete for citizens and are run by tech CEOs.
