I know I'm a day late on the latest techdrama, but I forgot to give my crunkly hot take on the Unity pricing update (as a thoughtfluencer).

PROPRIETARY FAGS BTFO. My personal favorite part is in their Q&A they say that "WebGL" counts, but without being any more specific that that. This means in the worst interpretation every single time someone refreshes your webapp you can be charged up to 20 US cents.

How else do you count a WASM/WebGL "installation", you don't install it, it just loads directly into the browser.

When has public school not been state sponsored day care for wage slave parents? Hmmmm…before the fall of the family farm?

Also, this shit is hilarious.

Unity pretty much admitted they know it will be abused as hell :D

This is the way

Mass civil disobedience is a beautiful sight to behold.

@lebronjames75 @olmitch @alex ask why they need to cover entire areas with cameras and sensors to make their "fifteen minute cities"

1. they need to put cameras and microphones and other sensors all over the city to monitor how people and vehicles are moving around
2. the cameras, microphones and sensors serve dual surveillance purpose
3. after they can monitor everything they will start restricting movement, like "no cars in these areas on these days to reduce pollution" but serves dual purpose that they can shut down anything down at any time.

the term for this is turnkey tyranny. It is not used for nefarious purposes (debatable, in London they instantly used the cameras to spy on everybody) but it trivially can be repurposed for it.

so in other words you can sit on itch.io and press F5 on a devs page and each time you do it 5 times he has to pay a dollar to unity

Just reminder the home phone only died as a concept because it turned into a vector for nothing but sam call nonsense to endlessly annoy you. Its isnt because the product became obsolete or was worth less than it was before.
