Apparently if you run GrapheneOS your a pedophile cop hater.

US government agents (border patrol at an airport) were targeting this guy over "Cop City protests" and during the interrogation they threatened to seize the phone if he didn't enter his pass code. He entered a code to wipe it (a feature of GrapheneOS). They charged him for destroying property in effort to prevent seizure.

The pedophilia? It's part of standard procedure (or a tactic to pressure people into confessing stuff even if unrelated to the questioning) according to boarder patrol agents to find evidence of prohibited items. Keep in mind this was all they questioned him about besides cop city protest related questions and identifying other people.

This isn't the first time boarder patrol agents have done this with activists. In ~ 2017 the FBI attempted to target or more like intimidate Ian Freeman using false inferences of child pornography at an airport.

In 2016 an agent made a false swearing to obtain a search warrant under the claim that child pornography would be found. Almost a decade later the FBI was forced to return the equipment with no prosecution, arrest, or child porn ever found. It gets more disturbing in that the search warrant itself as I understand it was sealed hindering the public from getting to the bottom of what justified this persecution. It was sealed under the guise of "national security".

They likely also targeted him months prior to a raid by posting fliers around Keene on an almost daily basis suggesting he was a pedophile and a danger to the children.

The FBI also put him on a list that boarder patrol would then use to question him for many hours. This despite knowing all along that there was never any child porn in the first place.

Ironically, if #Codeberg really manages to establish itself as the mostly-GenAI-code-free forge, it'll be the prime target for all #GenAI scrapers to prevent/delay model collapse 🙃

now, when user freedom finally seems in our grasp, codeberg tries to ban the two most important instruments that work towards it. i think this shows that the whole free software world is both confused and divided to an extremely unhealthy degree. the way forward will reveal itself.

codeberg for years displayed this behavior, i'm not sure why anyone would expect anything else.

also perfect example for that 95% of "hacker" culture is has completely abandoned their anarchist roots as soon as their political leanings got into power.

Seeing what’s happening now with folks who are using @Codeberg, for me it’s another confirmation that my decision to self-host with @forgejo was the right one. My server — my rules. What’s interesting is that I did it because I was tired of @github shenanigans, and then I realised that if something happens, it’s my own fault — not a problem that became mine because the cockroaches in someone’s head went crazy.

Donkey Kong 64 makes extremely efficient usage of in-engine coloration to cut down on the number of textures. Entire vibrant and colorful areas are created at runtime from a single texture just by artfully tinting it.

I went to a city hall meeting to discuss the Flock cameras, and my local politicians are fucking retards.
No one voted for these cameras all over the place, but the city sign a contract with flock in 2020.
Today's meeting was in regards to forming an unpaid citizens' council to review the Flock system in place over months, and then decide whether or not it should be voted on by the community. Everyone who was there regarding the Flock cameras was adamantly against even putting together a stupid council, and told the city council members to simply cancel the Flock contract.

They called us anti-police agitators. They said that we were on a crusade against the police. They said that the few of us that showed up(about 15-20)to city hall on a Thursday morning aren't representative of the hundred thousand people who live in the the area. One council member said that twenty of us showed up, but he had sixty people call him in support of Flock cameras... of course none of those supposed supporters showed up.

Every single city council member voted to shelf the citizens' study, and the community will never get a vote on whether or not they want Flock cameras.
One city council member had the audacity to say that there's so much support for Flock that he's sure it would pass if it were put up to vote, so we don't need a vote on it.

I want to [fed post] so hard right now.

@gotosocial@gts.superseriousbusiness.org @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de I think not allowing vibecoding is good because it can be argued that vibecoded projects aren't even free software in the first place because they use proprietary and legally ambiguous code under the hood.

What I am not a fan of is that in the recent policy change Codeberg also decided to ban cryptocurrency projects. I think this is a bad move because I think cryptocurrency projects can definitely have good uses as well and banning then outright is frankly rediculous and anti freedom. Therefore I will not be financially supporting Codeberg.

I don't understand blanket cryptocurrency hate.

WE HATE STATE CAPITALISM
"I have created a decentralized solution using cryptographic technology"
NOOOO NOT LIKE THAT

What the fuck wrong is with these people?

xianc78 boosted
not sure if its better or worse that i have no influence on things. :blobcatbox:

i see people who do have influence (like drew) scuffing shit up for everyone else. they don't seem concerned at all about being wrong.

i'm apparently wrong about everything, somehow, and get thrown in the waste basket.

i suspect one but not both of these outcomes is correct. life is strange. :comfy:

Codeberg blocks cryptocurrency projects.

"Proof of work wastes energy and is bad for the environment", says website that hides itself behind Anubis.

i guess the logical distinction is crypto mining on the build service is an active malice against the commons (someone is using a tool to do a thing) while writing the crypto miner as a tool is either unrealized or nothing (someone has to use a tool to cause harm, many tools never do.)

:comfywat: yeap i don't need to waste a day thinking about that rabbit hole of logic.

@mkljczk@pl.fediverse.pl I also disagree with the decision to blanket ban cryptocurrency projects. I don't think gender has anything to do with it though.

@xianc78@gameliberty.club It's always the same pattern... If we had Waffles as a Service:
- Seerup dot com: Popular, but you cannot say anything bad about chocolate-flavored waffles.
- Waffl dot io: You can only say good things about chocolate or blueberry waffles so that people who like them don't get upset. Strawberry waffles are banned. All of the mods eat blueberry waffles.
- BreakfastBoys dot uwaaah dot su: Everything goes, but the ~15 people there only discuss how bad chocolate waffles are (while the server isn't down)
- GNU Golden Squares, Better Batter, ironfried: Abandoned + never worked in the first place

Who I met a SEGE 2026 pt2
LGR was at the convention! I should’ve figured he’d be there given he’s somewhat near the area. We chatted about the hurricane recovery we endured & expressed how glad to hear he’s back on his feet. Even touched the wood grain 486. Got a selfie & a cool sticker for my gaming PC. Clint’s a pretty chill dude. 👍 #gamer #gaming #videogames #vidyagames #retrogaming

fun fact GNU/Taler is now banned from Codeberg, technically.

Not because Taler does anything wrong, but because Codebergers are fundamentally stupid people who don't understand "proof of work" is not the entire field of crypto. (Taler in particular was entirely designed by groups to be as legal and upstanding as possible.)

@subnetter @xianc78 the politics is just general baseball at this point. FSF did a really bad job communicating the point (armoring the commons from capture, anti-enclosure) and the corpos have done a great job defanging it (RMS is problematic guys, only solution is MIT licenses [and not armoring the commons against us anymore guys] :drgn__w_:) and the left wingers would rather purity spiral in to irrelevance than commit to popper (the actual popper position which requires tolerating unpopular arguments that haven't escalated to direct system hostilities) so uh.

:comfystoner: idk
