finished the side quest i was working on and made another one tonight.
gonna' try and work on the title screen music for @xianc78 's game either today or saturday, depending on how dead i am at the end of today and whether i get a nap or not lol.

Despite having less than a month to work on this. I still don't know what the game will be. It will either be a mediocre Quake-style FPS, a schizo walking simulator.

The highly likely backup scenario is it's literally Chuddy chases you around the Backrooms, plus "extra" (whatever I feel like).

I implemented an "alt-color" texture system. The primary color palette is 9 colors, 3 colors for a secondary palette, and 2 UI colors. I re-map black to be used for both the primary and secondary palettes, so 10 and 4 colors.

Diffuse textures are stored as grayscale, my parser will remap 0-255 to 0-127 unless the alt-color flag is set, in which case it wont. The renderer will use the upper bit to pick which palette to use.

In this example the "green" is the alt-color.

The technology was designed to be redundant, but in our laziness, we have allowed gatekeepers and choke points to creep in - places where authoritarians can apply censorship.

Someone on "hackers.town" should think a little more clearly than this. You don't run in circles responding to vague threats just because you're in the vicinity of a bad actor. It's lunatic behavior. You assess the threat. What could they do, in concrete terms? I don't see anything. There is no threat from Facebook. The closest I have seen to something concrete is Moon saying that they could mine data. I don't know why they'd be mining fedi's data (they have an ocean of their own data) but if they look like they're doing this, then there are solutions to that.

Facebook doesn't care about fedi: the likely target is Twitter. Twitter was unpopular before, then Elon took over, a lot of people fucked off to fedi (not a lot in terms of Twitter's userbase, but fedi's population grew by about 50%), then Twitter paywalls the whole thing and suddenly Facebook announces that they're gonna start doing ActivityPub. Don't get me wrong: "Facebook doesn't care about fedi" cuts both ways. They certainly wouldn't care about ruining the place. If this is more about Twitter than about fedi, then Facebook doesn't care who instance-blocks them, none of that shit matters. They have a competitor that is weaker than usual so they're taking some shots.

There are advantages to smoking crack (allegedly it is fun).
