@xianc78 I'd take XMPP over anything any day. After that IRCv3 when it becomes generally available.
Introducing the AppleWideWeb!
Most of you may already know that #HyperCard was a big influence on Tim Berners-Lee when he created the WWW. We are told that HyperCard missed its chance since it wasn't networked. Without support for connecting up a global network of HyperCard Stacks, it had no chance against the WWW.
Well that was then and this is now. In 2024 we DO have a global AppleTalk network to publish HyperCard Stacks on - #GlobalTalk! The dream is finally a reality!
A VM vending machine at #SCaLE21x! You put in a dollar, select your distro, and it creates a VM you can ssh into.
Edit: @dualdflipflop was behind this. Give him a follow.
I see a lot of people cheering for the "you have to verify your age to look at porn" bill as some victory, and I can almost get why it seems so well-intended on the surface.
Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is a lot can go wrong when you let a third party handle your PII (necessary to make sure that you're "of age" for such things) but also it sets a very WEF-y and very dangerous precedent — it sets a step for the online ID thing, and nope, that's not going to fly at all.
@meneer
It kind of boggles my mind how quantum safe encryption is even a thing that can be achieved, especially without the use of quantum computing itself.
Does anyone know a good basic primer for someone who understands standard encryption (just) but isn't any kind of computer scientist / theoretical mathematician etc?
@Tutanota
Oh no! I need to include support robotic hands that do touch sign language to narrate the output for the Helen Keller's out there! Oh wait! What if they don't have any arms either?
Just accept that society can't reasonably accommodate for every disability out there. Accessibility isn't a bad thing, but you have to cut off at some point.
