There's not a lot of macOS because it breaks backwards comparability all the time. As long as there's not a system level copy protection on the CD, a ton of old XP games will still work today (although a lot do need patches, which some companies have done to get that long tail for old games on GoG/Steam).

I still have a 3080-Ti and don't see ever upgrading. Hell, the PS4 Pro hit that golden era of graphics that are more than good enough for most story-telling, puzzles and action. Sure Far Cry 6 might look way better on a 3080 but .. who the fuck cares, the game is shit and the characters all suck ass.

Games have to be fun. Fancy art is a nice touch, but the game still has to be .. a game. Red Dead 2 and Stardew Valley are on totally different levels tech wise, but they're both solid for being fun, interesting games.

Hopefully there will just be a return to games being .. well games, not tech demos with some shit story or god awful art drawn by a team of lesbians who probably can't even finish a visual novel.

Gamers turned out to be more or less impossible to propagandize so they're going to try and kill us off on the hardware level, as if most of us won't just go back to playing 20 year old emulators or whatever.

i love allt he conspiracy theories like "they wanna make everyone have to use cloud computing that charges by the second" and i'm like "ok but there's so mcuh last gen hardware floating around that nobody ever has to buy a new thing for like decades, sooo good luck"

this ain't no time to black pill, if you got any hardware at all, you got a backlog to outlast them.

If Nvidia fucks this up they could open the way for a new competitor that makes graphics cards specific to gaming, rather than AI and crypto. Some of their OEMs like Corsair could make that pivot.

The thing is that AAA cost too fucking much and they refuse to make anything good, innovative and shorter than extremely mega openslop experience and it's just obviously straining them out, meaning, there's basically no use to max out your graphic capabilities anymore, not only they're struggling but you don't wanna play these games anyways

So the PC market is going from enthusiast, to more mainstream to probably specialized enthusiast again

Catching up to these companies and making new graphic card won't be easy, but shit has stagnated badly for so long and if they don't deliver, then someone else will in the market

Otherwise, about consoles, just think about it, the Switch 2 isn't amazing hardware yet it got Star Wars Outlaw (it just looks good), the new FF7 remake, it's also getting Pragmata and the latest RE. So decent optimization can go a long way but a weak hardware like that can keep up, so... What's the point of big hardware anymore

Maybe 2026 will be the year I finally organize and tag all my memes correctly. ... or more likely I'll just create a 2026 folder

You're not providing #students an #education, your providing companies customers.

We never taught Smith-Corona, or Turbo TS40, or Ford Tempo. We taught, respectively, typing, wood shop, and student driving. We should teach word processing, computer technology, and communications.
