I take it back I find Valve fanboys more annoying than Bethesda fanboys at this point. I'm kinda annoyed at the mindless dick riding of Gabe Newell when Counter Strike 2 doesn't even have a functioning anti-cheat and they've neglected the game for the last 2 years for everything but stupid cosmetics and updates to make cosmetics look better. Then I see retards going apeshit over an overpriced gamepad because it has TMR. I could put TMR sticks in my existing gamepad for a 5th of the price.

I do like the idea of SteamOS and gaming on Linux but gaming wise Valve hasn't really done anything mind blowing since The Orange Box in 2007 and that was 19 years ago. Portal 2 was alright but I never cared for Dota and I could care less about Deadlock as that will probably suffer the same fate as TF2 and CS2 and just be botted to hell and back with a dogshit anti-cheat.

We don't think any institution or state has the right to prevent families and friends from private chatting, physically or digitally. But the Cyber Authority China (CaC) seems to take offense:

- they made Apple remove #deltachat iOS for mainland china

- their great firewall appears to block some #chatmail relays

- if you ask DeepSeek directly about Delta Chat, it doesn't want to talk

It's pretty sad, really. Everybody on this planet needs, and has a human right to private communication.

I find it kinda crazy when people put on this whole show about how Xorg is deprecated or whatever but in reality it's works perfectly fine.

Meanwhile Wayland has objectively, measurably and significantly worse latency than Xorg. Not to mention buggy.

Like, I'm just gonna keep using Xorg. This isn't a political stance. It's just better, objectively so, I don't what else to say.

So, I had no idea that Lazy Town was actually a book first and foremost and then a stage play, in which an adult actress portrayed Stephanie. The sequel play's portrayal of her also seems to be an adult. This is moot anyway because yeah, the original story was a book that obviously has no actors at all.

This changes my perspective on the character being drawn entirely. It's pretty important context that I was missing and I apologize for that.

I can indeed be wrong sometimes. Crazy.

> Utah's Senate Bill 73 goes into force on May 6, websites subject to the state's age verification law will be legally barred from explaining how to use a VPN to get around age restrictions.

this sounds like god's most obvious first amendment violation

Things aren't looking good for the companies implementing age verification, Roblox just reported:

"As of the end of the first quarter, 51% of global daily active users had completed age verification,"

"Roblox cut its full-year 2026 bookings forecast by roughly $900 million at the midpoint on Thursday, blaming stronger-than-expected headwinds from its mandatory age-verification rollout"

okay it's not actually THAT bad, but the kinstone stuff just sucks ass. if there is ever an option to have additional buttons for your gear, play using that, because having the kinstones take up an entire button that can't be remapped is diabolical.

I wish I could tell my 19 year old self that the culture war is mostly being funded by the SPLC and that every celebrity on all sides would eventually become lolcows so it's not worth wasting your time spectating on it.

No. I was never on any movement, but I will admit that I wasted my time watching videos from all sides, and it did affect my performance in college. I was only drawn in because the Internet circles I was in were the ones most affected by it.

rambling

@taylan did a pretty job at the broad strokes, because yes to a degree it is an exaggeration.
But to clarify further "when did this happen?" tries to distill down a long-term big-picture trend into a single event which I think is oversimplifying a bit.
Larger scale events unfold over time, and I think much of this is going to take quite a bit of time to 'play out'.

Talking charitably, grassroots progressives took the gamble that kicking out people who may be abrasive to others would make FOSS more resilient to top-down tyranny ultimately lost that gamble. In hindsight, I think that's actually too charitable because I believe the fracturing of the space was the actual goal, which is why I'm now very suspicious of people like Lunduke who are interested in doubling down on the pettiness rather than actually healing the divides here.

As I've stated elsewhere, I wholeheartedly believe that the current state of things (large projects being institutionally incapable of opposing authoritarian measures like age verification) was the goal, and not an accident. We can blame the progressives for being at the helm, but ultimately it could have gone the other way just as easily. It would seem that they were actually right that inclusion is important for meaningful resilience to corruption, unfortunately I think that important message was sabotaged by saboteurs who made it to be about policing speech rather than actually getting along. It is my position that these saboteurs and the 'technofastist paymasters' have been on the same team for quite some time, in all the same ways that a lot of grassroots MAGA people have been bamboozled by Thiel, Yarvin, et al.

I'm do not like either Drew Devault, Brodie Robertson or Bryan Lunduke.

All three of them are kinda shitheads really.

But honestly watching these three fight each each other based on their tastes in pornography is fucking hilarious to me.

NEW PODCAST! 🎙☢️🦠

Filmmaker James Patrick discusses his documentary work on technocratic control and the erosion of personal freedoms. The conversation explores a global shift toward totalitarianism driven by the implementation of CBDCs, digital IDs, and the “great taking” of private assets. Patrick argues that recent crises, including the pandemic and agricultural regulations, are tools used by an elite class to destabilize the West and force humanity into a state of neo-feudal dependency. He further examines the “war on fertility” and food supplies, suggesting that these are coordinated efforts to reduce the global population and consolidate power. He also talks about his upcoming film detailing the escalation toward WW3. https://geopoliticsandempire.com/2026/05/04/patrick-ww3-great-reset-taking
