Did you know that normal people do not make public web pages about people they personally dislike?

Maybe you're a weird little guy yourself, Drew.

>Drew DeVault creates a public hit list on his site full of FOSS people he doesn't like

I'm actually surprised he hasn't done this earlier. But this shit is so disgusting, it makes me want to never contribute to that movement again.

And this makes me restate my position for my game studio (Ioncom) in that we may release source code of our games under a free license, but we will never accept contributions from the outside world. We will a NEVER create or contribute to community projects, EVER, under any circumstances. There is just too much drama.

@icedquinn @phnt @sam @jaff @sun timeline where he gets kicked out of the EU for creating public lists of enemies, only to get in trouble entering the US for putting the antifa flag on his site.

he hasn't fully thought this through, i feel.

@jaff @phnt @sun @sam EU is a lot less friendly to "it was just my opinion bro" when you're making article sites with claims. :neocat_woozy: people go to jail for that shit in britain.

hell, people go to jail for tweets like that in britain.

@sun @phnt @sam potentially illegal in france (lol) the EU has opinions about making public hit lists. you'd think he'd know this considering he's an EU simp :gutkato_konfuzita:

DeVault is the absolute shit-piss-scum of FOSS, and yet his insane website is still allowed on Hackernews where mine is shadowbanned. They actively defend the revelations of him being a loliphile oh HN by flagging and deleting any posts about it.

The vile narcissistic piece of shit calling out anybody at this point is just rich. He's calling out the spec in people's eyes while his eyes are infected with glaucoma. The bastard needs to just shut the fuck up. Touching grass will not help him. He is a vile degenerate who even Luke Skywalker could not save. There is no good left in him.

@drew Missing Drew DeVault, the asshole who stirs up pointless drama in order to distract from the fact that he jerks off to sexualized drawings of literal children

Google Maps search queries cost more money than using an LLM to analyze them. Wtf?

Who knew that an Aldi's knockoff brand would taste better than the real thing?

Why do all the interesting things happen when I'm gone?

In regards to nitter, the EFF has decided to petition their panel of volunteer lawyers to assist in the nitter C&D. Have been in contact with them most of this morning, will be good to get legal support for the other instances and their maintainers and challenge xitter

California Ban Leaves Open Questions Despite Supposed "Industry Consensus"

"For Linux users and distributions, the bill’s most important part remains unchanged. Its definition of an 'operating system provider' explicitly excludes an entity that distributes an operating system or application under license terms allowing recipients to copy, redistribute, and modify the software."

Not all parts of the Linux kernel are "open source", and some have restrictive licensing or are 'closed'.

If the state enforces the law strictly no mainstream consumer distribution is truly in compliance.

The law doesn't say "primarily open source" or primarily under FOSS terms. And there isn't a single license. You'll find the numerous different licenses under which different components of the "operating system" ship in /usr/share/doc/.

But it's worthy of pointing out that even something like ath9k-htc which supports USB wifi adapters consists of firmware released under three separate licenses. All three in this case are "FOSS", but that's unusual, not the norm.

It's also questionable what constitutes an operating system. Is it just the kernel? Is it the kernel plus the core applications like GNU? Is it the kernel, the graphics stack, printing stack, audio stack, GNU utilities, X server, and package manager?

SteamOS is based on Arch yet it's unclear if SeamOS is included or excluded.

How about Android? Android is a set of software, but most of the apps merely run on top of what is actually an "open source" operating system that is itself a fork of the Linux kernel.

Is Mac OS X exempt because the VERY core of the kernel is released even if nothing else?

@phnt @RustyCrab @7666 Also cloudflare is bad to the woke crowd because they hosted the IMMINENT THREAT TO HUMAN LIFE site for a few years and now they have AI stuff. Their problems with cloudflare aren't the cartel mindset or how they cut sites off, but rather that the sites that they cut off were allowed to be there in the first place.

There's a good moral to this story (that once you've done X you're tainted forever to the point theocracies aren't even this bad), but back to TCRF. Their anti-DDoS is linode taking the site down on their (allegedly) shared host and "waiting" for it to blow over. Xkeeper on the other hand is still living in the mid-2010s and mentally comes off like that Harry Dresden Ring guy.

It was never about the company. It was about the state claiming the power to catalog a city’s entire population by location — a permanent record of movement created without notice, consent, or restraint.
