@jeff Eunice was pulled out of school in 3rd grade because she got whipped for punishment and Charlie didn't want anyone beating his wife.
They were married for 5 years before Eunice had their first child at 14.
Despite hindsight of old age, journalists constantly stalking them to the point where neighbors had to fend them off because Eunice couldn't sleep, and the entire country being critical of them, Eunice said the only thing she regretted about it was that she wasn't able to finish school.
Even though 9 years old is definitely too young for marriage, it seems like they both lived good lives and cared for each other, which is all you can really hope for in our little hellscape.
My great grandma got married when she was 13 or 14 and, going back even that far, she's one of the only people in my family that was never divorced (including my grandparents who got engaged on their first date and my aunt/uncle who have a 10 year age gap). It's insane how fast things actually change.
