@YeetLibs sticky boi
@bajax @cassidyclown from my experience, some of the coolest people are the ACTUALLY AFRICAN guys. The ones that still have culture beyond brutality. The ones who have only been here for like 3 generations max. They're relaxed as hell and super charismatic, and damn do they get shit done. Dudes from Jamaica, for instance. Really fucking awesome people. I know a few of them that run food trucks around here and they're always smiling and having a good time.
That is nothing to say about the places they come from, which are usually not the greatest places to live. It seems like they take the best of it and bring it here, though, which is really cool. The standard of living here is much higher so it seems like they appreciate it a lot more.
@LittleTom a hat in time is a really fucking good game, one of the best 3D platformers ever with cute and unique characters, an awesome soundtrack, and really great mod support. Yooka Laylee WISHES it was A Hat In Time. It pales in comparison.
It's got 1 tranny flag as an Easter egg in one DLC that you have to go out of your way to find. Whatever. GFB still let Jontron keep his role in the game after the whole Destiny thing whereas he was axed from Yooka Laylee over it, so that was well and truly based imo. It seems like the owner probably just takes a very hands-off approach, for better or worse.
This game, though, is a fucking abomination and deserves the slaughter, not to be salvaged.
Pirate A Hat In Time and enjoy it, don't even talk about this shit lest it garner publicity.
@matrix just sounds like an actual couple imo, strengths and weaknesses. Plus she's wanting to be a mom so that's already a win as long as she's cool.
@CentaurBreeder what is she from? Looks like persona artwork
@Corfiot @CentaurBreeder @professionalbigot69 oh no it wasn't the therapy that caused that lol. That was just the root problem of me basically trying to be someone I wasn't and everyone telling me it was better for me to be the person I wasn't, whether directly or indirectly. It mainly revolved around religion, Mormon church specifically. There's a lot of hypocrisy there and a lot of stuff that clashed, which didn't help with the dissonance either. I'd pray about stuff and always receive the "wrong" answers and everyone would insinuate that it was a problem with my faith or that Satan was trying to tempt me or something, or that I was trying to take the easy way out. Fun stuff. They literally say that any doubts you have are from Satan and will straight up deny your questions and feelings about things by saying that you don't have enough faith. It's not about individuality, and I always got that impression from therapy too. It's a very big umbrella that gets cast that works for a lot of people, but again I don't believe that "working" necessarily means "healing." Because to heal often means to confront uncomfortable truths, and I always felt like the goal of therapy was to make people feel comfortable.
@CentaurBreeder do you know about nootropics? That's part of why he got into the profession, he wants to research those. He's also always been interested in supplements and diet stuff, and how the body and brain react to everything. It's pretty interesting, he's actually been able to tell me more about seizure stuff than any other physician or psychologist has.
Red flag: trauma dumps to strangers and I still suck at being concise
@Corfiot @CentaurBreeder @professionalbigot69 I do prefer to be the captain of my soul. I haven't had good experiences with therapy or drugs, ever. The therapists never really seemed to actually understand me and prescribed drugs that messed me up further. My siblings had similar issues. It's probably better to find someone like a mentor if you can't fix your life, whereas a therapist is probably better off as being just a person you talk to in order to vent and get things off your chest if you have no other way to do it.
At some point, I unpacked everything and grew enough of a spine to do something about it and the fake people in my life hated that, saw me as a threat, and tried to denigrate me. Had I just stayed in therapy I probably would have an heroed because I can only handle so much cognitive dissonance.
I think therapy may help people remain calm and stop getting stressed out about stuff or whatever, which can be helpful for sure, but I don't see it as getting down to the ROOTS of things. That's something only you can do... So I feel like therapy should perhaps focus on teaching someone how to do that and it really doesn't... It makes sense though, because sometimes the roots go deep and ripping them out will cause a lot of discomfort and drama. You're walking on eggshells at that point.
For 19 years I was manipulated to the point that it became learned behavior and I got really good at doing it to others, so yeah I'm not a huge fan of someone who doesn't really know me trying to act like they're my friend and try to tell me what they think is best for me. I know myself very well and I don't see me loving to have control over myself as a bad thing when do many people lack that and need somebody to tell them how to act or what to believe, because they were never taught how to think, just what to think.
Also there's just the point that there isn't anything I need therapy for. Like, I'd go to a therapist and I've got problems for sure, but I'm not distressed over anything. They would wonder why I was even there. A lot of people think that therapy "fixes" you but it really doesn't.
Therapy may also be better when it comes to problems that need to be solved, where a 3rd party with no stake in the matter can offer circumstantial advice (like a marriage/family counselor), rather than actual mental issues. Again, I'd think a mentor is probably better for that, and way more likely to help with lifestyle instead of piling on drugs.
Maybe it's possible that what I was dealing with just wasn't possible for therapy to do anything about and I HAD to face it myself. I know therapy seems to help some people, but I'm skeptical of its actual merit in regards to *really* making people better instead of making them complacent. There's a lot of that in society as-is, where band-aid solutions are preferred to dealing with harsh truths (for example, transgender individuals. just take hormones and you'll be happy!).
@CentaurBreeder @professionalbigot69 and my whole thing with therapy is that rather than tricking myself into thinking it will work, why not spend that willpower on just getting better on my own terms? Focus it somewhere else instead of trusting some dude or chick to do it for me. I think therapy should mainly focus on people becoming self sufficient. It's like how a lot "learning" is being taught what to think, not how to think.
Stuff like meds should only be used in extreme circumstances and are waaaaaay over prescribed. My best friend is actually a pharmacist and was telling me the other day he kind of hates that he took the classes, in a way, because he knows now how the medical field and big pharma work and he hates it. In school they are taught to diagnose, recommend lifestyle changes, and then prescribe medicine, but most doctors skip the middle part entirely or prescribe at the same time.
@CentaurBreeder @professionalbigot69 with that last bit I was more referring to people that are in therapy, they probably shouldn't get in a relationship until they don't need it anymore. But of course, therapy/meds aren't necessarily designed to make you better, just to trick yourself into thinking you are, even though you're still dependant on someone or a substance. That can work for some people to spring off of, but in my experience that's not typical.
@CentaurBreeder @professionalbigot69 bathing daily is actually just bad for you lol. As long as you don't stink then skipping a couple of days is good, like if you just have a desk job or on your days off if you just lounge around. Showering strips your skin of oil. Ideally you should only shower at night too. My roommates all shower in the morning instead of eating breakfast and then just sleep in their work day filth lol. Not a healthy lifestyle.
You're actually not supposed to shampoo your hair all the time either. Like twice a week is good. Just use water otherwise.
@Mitsu maybe I should have heheheheheh
@CentaurBreeder @professionalbigot69 clarification: my mental illness is untreated because the "treatment" only made it worse and just figuring things out myself has done a lot more for me. Fuck meds and therapists.
Bitches would rather have a downtrodden man in therapy than a content man with a couple screws loose. If you need therapy, that's more of a red flag imo. Got some shit to work out before getting in a relationship.
