30 hours later... unbound is finally finished. yeah, about 6.5/10. nothing to write home about, but not bad. it would be a LOT worse if i couldn't mute everything but the sound effects.
next game is probably going to be touhou luna nights. i still need to play system shock but i need to use my 1 month of game pass while i have it.
Only now, at pretty much the end of the story for Unbound, I'm starting to "get it." The game is a lot different from other NFS games in that it doesn't prioritize drift unless you're specifically in a drift event. Having a car with a good drift stat will usually mean your acceleration isn't as good, and the way drifting works here doesn't focus as much on keeping acceleration but instead building up boost by drifting to then explode out of the drift. However, if you get a car that has good acceleration you have much better handling as well, and you can e-brake to take even extremely sharp corners then accelerate to go much faster than the competition through turns.
It's honestly really weird, and much different than what I'm used to. Now that I know what I'm doing though, I'm lapping AI drivers with ease.
By the way, none of this is explained to you at all. I didn't even know the boost outright changed the physics until I watched a video on it.
I was told about an engine inspired by RPG Maker called RPG Architect. It has 3D support and the developer is apparently a madman adding in new features that the community suggests all the time. I'm pretty interested in trying it out, and I might actually go for that for the next game instead of Godot depending on what I'm feeling more.
The one obvious downside is that there is NO FORUM FOR IT. At least, not as far as I can tell. Only Discord. That sucks ass, I don't want to use Discord for an entire ass game engine.
@Ronnie21093 HERE WE ARE GOING FAR TO SAVE ALLLLL THAT WE LOVE IF WE GIVE WHAT WE GOT WE CAN MAKE IT THROUUUUGH
@Fiddle @Kagekokoro you've gotta find a coffee shop with abominations working.
i've worked on stuff at coffee shops before but i find it much easier to focus at the library.
far, far less people would go buy a new star fox game rather than an f-zero game. the fans of the series are pretty fractured and the game itself is way less popular. with f-zero being shitted into a 99 game my hopes for anything star fox related that's actually good aren't even in the gutter, they're in the sewers being guarded by pennywise.
@RyokoPilled @rasterman @Torgo what they really should have done is remade silent hill 1 if they wanted to do a remake of anything. that game could get an overhaul completely and still make sense. i think they just went for what could make them the most money, not what game really needed a remake.
@matana that sounds about right
@Mr_NutterButter there are 73,786,976,294,838,210,000 possible youtube URLs as it currently works. that's not what i'm talking about. i'm talking about extra strings being added to the end of the typical URL.
@Torgo @rasterman @luithe i'd say the lighthouse counts. i still haven't seen the whole movie, just some scenes of it, but it seems like a descent into madness. i know the story it was based on and it's definitely horrifying.
@Torgo @rasterman yeah, the horror in an RE game for instance is a bit more thrilling, whereas in silent hill it's more chilling.
@luithe @rasterman @Torgo i'm honestly super out of the loop when it comes to movies in general these days, i haven't seen a horror movie since that IT remake and i thought it was stupid
