@Mr_NutterButter if you import the third world, you become the third world. it's not that hard to understand. no country can bear the weight of a shit ton of people coming in like that who don't contribute to the systems that help them. as much as it sucks from a humane perspective to turn people away there's a certain point where you can't take anymore. people will talk about this with self-help very often... you know, you can't help everyone and at a certain point you have to think about yourself. but if you apply that to a country, you're a horrible person all of the sudden.

@ArdainianRight @xianc78 but yeah, the fact that there are places where you can get your kids taken away from you for "not affirming their gender" is absolutely insane and I would probably be going 25 to life if someone tried to take away mine for that.

@ArdainianRight @xianc78 my manager had massive issues with cps, not for her kid but someone else's. Mom was a single mother and got sent to prison for drugs or something along those lines, my manager had to fight tooth and nail to gain custody of the kid and the agent was a total bitch about it the entire process, even with consent of the mother from day one. You could say they are so tough about it so that they know the kids are going somewhere good, but the alternative is an orphanage/foster home and those don't seem to be great typically.

There are plenty of situations where parents are abusive and their kids should be taken from them, or rather the parents should be taken into custody and the kids given to family members or friends. but there's too much red tape. Also, the kids should absolutely have more of a say in it instead of being treated like high value property.
