@Mr_NutterButter I would probably go with the paint itself being magical, and temporary. So the magic it gives you from whatever symbol is limited and you have to paint it on again once it runs out or dries up or whatever. Maybe it would be a relatively scarce resource too so you'd have to be very selective with how you use it.

I can imagine it being like a D&D magic item that only has so many charges before it breaks, so you have to be careful how and when you use it. Otherwise it becomes pretty OP.

Alternatively, you can add something like Witcher's toxicity, so if you don't wash off the paint in a certain amount of time you start facing negative effects and that becomes more of a factor with each symbol you have, exponentially.

What I'm trying to get at is that every magic system needs its limits. It will also have the effect of making someone who can use a lot of it seem badass. Maybe they get in a little over their head and it becomes their downfall because they have too much toxicity in their system (sort of like David in the Sandevistan). It becomes a better narrative device that way.

One time I told my friend's dad I wasn't going hunting with them because I didn't like killing animals for sport. He got a little pissy with me and said "well you play video games where you go around and shoot people, so what's the difference?" Lost all my respect for him and never gained it back.

@Paleloon @Terry @Dudebro @Owl @The_Almighty_Kek @Cavendish @King_Noticer @Xeraser thankfully i haven't had any major injuries, just some broken bones here and there. nothing that's ever required surgery (other than wisdom teeth, and that hurt like a bitch). worst pain ever though is definitely after having a grand mal seizure. imagine how your legs feel after leg day, multiply it by 3, and that pain exists throughout your entire body. then on top of that you have anything you broke/cut during the fall/seizing (your muscles can break your bones), nausea and confusion.

i would still probably rather have that pain than have to deal with a spicy chip turning my insides out though.

thinkin about getting into scrabble. not ever gonna be good enough for tournaments but i always wipe the floor with my friends so it would be fun to play against people who kind of know what they're doing.

@why @sun Microsoft makes most of their windows money on bulk purchases. They don't give a fuck if random people use it for free, otherwise they would have locked down the script that lets you activate windows for free with their own servers that is hosted on their own platform. They also already have subscription based stuff for other products so if anything they might just loop then into a "windows subscription" but I don't think it'll ever be required.

@sun when I upgrade I won't have to worry about any of that because I know that I'm doing and some cool people have made tools to get rid of it
