The game does look really good too, I have to say. Still some funny problems with foliage pop-in, but other than that it's super solid.

@m1ss4ndry looking more into it, the entire development team was forced to watch the entirety of game of thrones in order to understand the tone and themes.
i really think it's only skin deep, though. it's darker, medieval fantasy with some magical elements and kingdoms that are struggling against each other alongside some rebels.
if they really did take a lot of inspiration, then i think they did it in an actually positive way instead of it just seeming like a cheap clone. but i mean come on... game of thrones really is still typical fantasy stuff at the end of the day. the flavor is what really sets fantasy franchises apart from each other, and FF16 has the final fantasy flavor.
