Open mic review
Well, the open mic was a good time. The only mention of RvW was a comedian saying that the silver lining was that guys like him with vasectomies would go up in value xD
Also some guy asked if the songs I sang were made for pride month (which is a hard no).
But I got to hear some friends play that I haven't heard in a long time. Since before COVID-19. It was good hearing them again as well as some new faces.
Something interesting I noticed that I hope is here to stay is that all of the female singers actually sounded nice and clear, very soulful and rich voices rather than the weird, gross, indie "Billie eilish" shit that was happening pre-pandemic.
The other thing that was nice is that it seemed like pretty much everyone there was actually good at performing. Normally at open mics you'll have a few shitters with more confidence than they have work ethic. This one though, almost every performance blew me away.
@Secftblgirl capitalism isn't so bad eh?
@Azur_Fenix @FutaFanatic that one i'm on the fence about. i can understand it, but that gets into weird eugenics stuff i'm not a huge fan of at least when it comes to earth. if we're sending people up to mars i think some eugenics there is necessary to try and get the best genes there since we can effectively start over and it's not like we have to kill anyone, just send up the best we can, but on earth idk, rubs me the wrong way.
for me the only times an abortion is "okay" is rape, or if the mother's health is in danger. if the condom breaks, then tough shit. maybe don't have sex if you aren't accepting of the risk that you could have a child come out of it. or just stack multiple methods to lower the chances, like condom+pull out or whatever.
@tengumatingpress @sjw ah yes, the slave show loophole
@BlinkRape that's the last thing i wanted to see today

@matrix it wouldn't be too bad if every single game about "mental illness" was either about depression or dysmorphia.
i like to the moon, which is about Asperger's. i think hellblade would have been good (psychosis) if it wasn't so god damn annoying. i'd like to see more games tackle OTHER mental issues. or even just other issues in general, for instance that dragon cancer dealing with, well, cancer. of course, that and to the moon aren't exactly "games" and more like interactive experiences, but you get the point.
however, i will say that celeste and omori both have awesome gameplay. maybe the stories/messages can be a little bit pretentious or whatever but they have some unique things going on for them still.
and then you have silent hill 2, the greatest horror game of all time. all of the characters have some mental issues, but i think the best one by far is angela, who suffers from guilt, PTSD, and depression. no spoilers here but the end of her story is brutal. fuck, the endings of the game in general are all pretty brutal in one way or another.
