@picandor i think you gotta have a mix of not being taken advantage of and also going above and beyond in the parts of the job you know you are good at. i've earned respect doing that where i can see that some coworkers really don't like the bosses because they don't know how to put their foot down.

for the most part i think my roommates are pretty good at it. they're good friends with their bosses because they are dependable and can get shit done, but have also earned respect by not just being a doormat. we actually got some of our furniture from one of their bosses and they used to go play poker with him on the weekends xD one of the guys has said that he's the only person his boss actually likes on his shift, and he has been able to go from working graves to alternating night shifts making the same graves pay because of that.

there is a difference between ass kissing--being used as a dirty dish rag--and being dependable but firm.

@xianc78 the only vote i really care about here is the county sheriff because the one we have right now has been in for like a decade. all the senators suck cock and the house representatives are more or less all the same, wouldn't be too mad one way or the other (except for the schizophrenic dude running but i'm sure he won't make it lol).

@xianc78 i agree that you should be doing as much as you can to better your life and those around you, because a politician isn't going to come by and do everything for you. there's no problem with being happy that a politician will make that easier, though. if your energy bills go down, that's more money you can spend on your family or putting towards a career. if there isn't a rape gang of muslim refugees hanging around every corner, you don't have to worry about your daughter going to a concert in stockholm.

Apparently, the new prime minister of Sweden is relatively based? It's the first time the Sweden Democrats have had direct influence in the government, who are a nationalist political party. The way they do things in Sweden's government is pretty different compared to here in the US, with a lot of the parties forming alliances and stuff, so the PM is from the Moderate party but the party alliance to get him to be PM was formed with Moderates, Sweden Democrats, Christian Democrats, and Liberals. The first thought upon hearing "democrat" or "liberal" is always negative if you live in the US but apparently in Sweden they are the party on the political right (the Moderates are center-right).

Looks like he's clamping down on the refugee crisis and focusing on nuclear energy. Pretty shnazzy.

@Terry a couple years ago i was driving with my grandparents. my grandma was telling a story and says "this guy called him the n-word you aren't supposed to call black people."

@picandor wherever I go I'm normally the most valuable worker because I actually get shit done and I'm easy to work with, so that puts me in good graces when I need something or need a day off. I've been able to choose exactly what hours I want at my last 4 jobs. My manager at my current job bought me 2 entire boxes of Kickstart to keep at the building because I forgot mine once xD I mean I know I'm lucky, but actually doing your job well and sucking it up when you have to do someone else's every now and then has paid off for me pretty well.
