@ChristiJunior the founding fathers specifically said that america was only for free white men lmao

alright strap in.

dmc has the best combat of any game i've played PERIOD. everything flows so well, the controls are really intuitive, and there are a lot of ways to upgrade things that feel dynamic. the arsenal of weapons are all useful, for plenty of situations, including traversing the levels. the movement is also super nice, i used to speedrun it and found a lot of tricks before it caught on a bit and everyone blew past me in the leaderboards lol.

people don't like dmc because dante is different and a little bit cringeworthy. it came out at a time where it was fun to dunk on cringe stuff so anything even moderately along those lines got the shaft. nevermind that devil may cry has always had a certain level of cringe in it. vergil is, well still pretty much vergil, and there is a new character named kat that i honestly thought was pretty cool. the story is good too, imo. and the boss battles are all so fucking awesome and inventive. there's one where you basically fight bill o'reily's massive digital head as he screams fake news at you xD

hellblade is a stark contrast. i just don't find it fun. the game has no style, and it does this weird thing where it mixes in FMVs into the CG of the game that looks really uncanny, like it doesn't belong there. took me out of the experience. the combat is boring, kind of easy to cheese, and with the relatively restricted camera, the only way to tell if an enemy is coming up behind you is a little glint on your character so you'll often get hit by something you can't see. the "puzzles" all amount to just looking at the environment in a certain way, and it's cool at first but after doing it so many times it gets really annoying. they have this gameplay feature where if you die, some rot travels up your arm and if it covers your body, you have to start from the beginning of the game. but that's not actually the case, some deus ex machina comes to prevent it from happening if you do die too much. why even have it in the game at that point?

also, the game is mostly about a mental disorder, psychosis, and there are these voices in your head that play throughout the entire game. they kind of act as a guide for senua, but then you'll have another voice or maybe 2/3 voices telling you not to do what the other voice said. this is happening CONSTANTLY. i get that it's probably an accurate depiction of someone with extreme psychosis, but to me it was *really* annoying and overwhelming. there is no way to turn the voices off without turning off the voices in the entire game, so for the last hour or two i played the game with no voice acting whatsoever, just read the subtitles.

however, that's a problem because the subtitles are often incorrect and don't exist for the voices in senua's head (iirc). they still get the message across, but they don't line up with what the characters are saying sometimes. for a game about a disorder, it's funny that deaf people technically wouldn't be able to experience the game in the same relative way that they could with other games. there are other problems too, like how it doesn't let you turn off motion blur or adjust the FOV, which led to some people being unable to play it due to motion sickness. they just recently added in colorblind support but i'm sure it's "industry standard" which means it's likely simulating colorblindness instead of correcting it. that can help distinguish colors in some cases, but you're also not seeing the colors how they *should* be seen.

dmc doesn't have accessibility features at all to speak of, but it doesn't really have any problems that need to be addressed. the camera is always a good distance away, there is a lot of contrast in the environment, and there aren't voices in your head going off constantly that make you want to kill a bitch xD

but people do really seem to like hellblade..... idk why. i can't really find anything redeeming about the game. maybe the story? but ehh.... it was pretty lackluster imo. it's a much more cinematic game than it is a FUN game. the acting is good, but if the acting was good in The Room it wouldn't be a funny movie anymore, just a boring one. i'm pretty sure the reason why my roommate really liked it was because it's nordic-themed (even though they kind of get some of the mythology wrong).

oh yeah and then i can't forget the music. the FUCKING MUSIC in dmc is the best in a devil may cry game for sure. i mean with dmc5 you get the staple character songs that are all really good, but besides that it's all kind of bland. hellblade's music definitely didn't do anything for me. but dmc's is made by combichrist, an industrial metal band, and *every* song is fucking amazing. check it out if you like that stuff: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1HTCksItKUcHw0nsZ69-8NMP5Mv0bfhP

@coolboymew maybe they didn't look very hard. they were probably looking for a dev studio or a producer of mobile games, rather than an individual. i know for a fact there are plenty of solo devs who will just port a game over to mobile as a job, and/or take a percentage of the sales.

it is always better to do it yourself if you can, though.

@LukeAlmighty at my work, the cleaning team comes in after an event. sometimes the events go until 11pm or 12am so they are there until they finish the job. i've been there until 1am occasionally and they're still there working. they get paid better than i do though so, godspeed.

@NorthernBaron @LukeAlmighty apparently the devs are aware of the crashing issues and working to fix them right now.

Holy shit, what a blast from the past.
I never got to play Flyff because my PC sucked. I'm surprised it still exists.
Anyone have experience with it?

@zemichi @matrix @trogdor hopefully that's the case

How the fuck are people out here feeling unsafe because of a sign at an event they aren't even at lmao these fags would cry if they spilled their latte.

@hideki i'd do it and then probably heavily regret it because i'd get too attached. animal crossing already comes back to haunt me every now and then so i can't imagine what an AI girlfriend would do to me.

@LukeAlmighty i've played for just over an hour and i gotta say, it is very cute and also pretty funny.

although it definitely is still in early access. i had a crash already and gamepad isn't supported very well. still pretty fun so far though. kind of like a hat in time but with guns.

@icedquinn @snugglefist
I get it... the game is throwing at me so much shit, that it becomes painful.

Fuck it, Imma speedrun that shit Dark Souls style.
