some people are making a good point about locking up scooters. it's not just about locking it up, it's also about them being vandalized. nobody really gives a shit or second glance at bikes but a scooter being locked up does kind of seem like it's just begging for someone to break something on it, intentionally or unintentionally.

might just forgo the lock and wheel it around inside stores with me. or worst case, leave it in the store at the front. a lot of people actually do that where i work with their scooters, they'll leave it inside near the door.

this is something i didn't think about when buying it honestly and it sort of freaks me out that technically, someone could just take it even i did get a good lock for it. or just forget about stealing it, people could just like fuck around with it. i'd rather walk it around with me even if it would be a massive inconvenience.

there are a lot of books that seem really interesting to read, but man i really am just not a reader. i tried to get into house of leaves most recently and only got a little bit into it... i only read it while my pizza was cooking half a dozen times.

i used to read a LOT when i was a kid too. i was an avid reader. i had read the entire harry potter series before i was 12 and now i can't fathom reading that much. i don't know, i can't help thinking while I'm reading that there are a lot more fun or productive things i could be doing.

the last time i seriously sat down and read a book was the hunger games, back in like 2012. i read it in two days because i got hooked. everything else though, i'll end up thinking "oh man this story premise is really cool!" and then only get a few chapters in before i forget about it.

what are your thoughts on the golden compass?

i've never seen it but with my mormon upbringing, it was more or less made known to everyone that if you watched it you were evil.

if i have enough money one day i hope i can just like, fund a mod/game website that is censorship resistant and the only way something gets taken down is via DMCA or if it's illegal (although in that case it would more likely just be denied verification or something).

it doesn't even seem like it's that hard to pull off something like that. just put up some content filters for people that don't want to see certain things. or, better yet, make the more spicy stuff opt-in specifically. that way everyone can still enjoy the site.

why the fuck hasn't someone like notch done this yet? the dude totally could and it's not like he could come under any more fire than he already has, as if it would even matter goddammit.

back in the day, if someone was into video games, or anime, or even fucking WARHAMMER and D&D nowadays, you could safely say that they were a weirdo just like you were and you would find mostly common ground with them. because they weren't into it because it was popular, they were into it because they really enjoyed it. you might be treated like a loser by the popular kids but at a certain point most of stopped giving a shit because there were enough people that enjoyed what we did to have a nice little community, and the creators were still giving us what we wanted to play/watch.

now, you're still treated like a loser for liking them because you like the ones that the "popular kids" don't like. it's the exact same shit as it always was except now the companies are making stuff for the popular crowd because they're brainless and it earns them a shit ton of money. it's worse than it ever was.
