@ChristiJunior@neckbeard.xyz @rasterman @matrix They really have no prior experience. Their NES games were pitched to other developers. GameFreak literally bought a Famicom BASIC (an educational tool to teach kids how to program) thinking that's how actual Famicom/NES games were developed.

@rasterman @matrix @ChristiJunior@neckbeard.xyz Pretty ironic given that the N64 was the first major home console to feature anti-aliasing (it's partly what allowed smother graphics compared to the PS1) but anti-aliasing is increasingly becoming obsolete as pixel density increases.

@rasterman @matrix @ChristiJunior@neckbeard.xyz Supposedly, it uses up all the read/write accesses the system NAND can do before dying, but according to a Switch hacker, the game doesn't have special read/write privileges to do that, but Sw/Sh may be a contributing factor to Switch consoles bricking.

@ChristiJunior@neckbeard.xyz @rasterman @matrix Not really. GBC can only do 3 colors per sprite and you can clearly see more than that per sprite in that screenshot. At best, it looks like a Wonderswan Color game.

@ChristiJunior@neckbeard.xyz @rasterman @matrix It's not even graphics. They're just shit programmers in general. They even had to get Iwata involved several times because they were terrible at optimizing their code and data to fit on cartridges. Hell, Pokemon Red and Blue almost weren't localized because they literally had to have Iwata restructure the code to have ASCII characters for western localization. And this is not getting into game breaking bugs that in some cases brick your system. Sw/Sh apparently had a really bad save bug that corrupted the entire file system of your console.

I know TVTropes is pozzed as fuck but they have a section dedicated to Pokemon as part of their Idiot Programming article.
