So I managed to get a PC-98 machine that satisfies the narrow set of conditions for running a PC-9801-14 soundboard (slow CPU mode that approximates a V30, it can be faster, no sound ROM, and the ability to remap devices away from INT5/6/whatever resources the 9801-14 takes up.), and then since the GreaseWeazle couldn't write a N88-BASIC disk (seriously does any of this shit I find online even work?), I just used a FlashFloppy. While 2 of the images I tried wouldn't load because let's be honest N88-basic disk support is jank as shit for floppy emulators and writers, a .d88 file of Galaga did and I was able to find out something major: NP21w and seemingly no PC-98 emulators are able to actually emulate most N88-Basic games using the 9801-14 due to the fact that the sound ROMs are undumped.

Good thing I've got a copy of those too. How many PC-9801 games were missing music because nobody has this rare TMS3631 based sound card?

@berkberkman @animeirl I don't pay attention or care about graphic design, video production, etc. But apparently, Macs were actually never the best option for those. They just became a shitty trend by Hollywood film directors. I've heard that even back then, Amiga was actually the best option when it came to media production.

@netdoll @animeirl Laptops are still repairable if you buy a good one and not some shitty netbook, but anyone who isn't using a netbook, cheap laptop, or MacBook is probably a PC gamer who is naturally going to replace his gaming laptop when newer AAA games make it obsolete.

I'm actually trying to keep my current laptop for as long as possible. It's already outlasting my previous laptops and I recently replaced the fans. When the time comes, I'm either going to get a System76 or Framework.

@netdoll @animeirl Phones have always been meant to be replaced every ~2 years, and that is mostly due to cellular network giving you a free upgrade.

@netdoll @animeirl Ironic coming from the company that is probably the most known for planned obsolescence.

>Mac Pros of that era are pretty good hardware

How? They always seemed on par with mid-range PCs at best.

@netdoll @animeirl If you want a Mac that acts like a traditional PC just build a Hackintosh (yeah I know that it's no longer an option, but it was back in 2010).

@netdoll @animeirl I have never seen a single person owning a MacPro. Every desktop Mac I see is an iMac. Rarely do I see a Mac Mini, but it's usually used as a home theater setup.

I wish Mars One wasn't a scam. I bet there would be more people signing up for that than ever, given the direction society is going.

@ItsSkyDragonz Also
>Literally turns to sludge with contact with water

I never have that happened before. Do you live next to a river or something?

@MeBigbrain @ItsSkyDragonz And I know from experience that repairing dry wall is much easier than repairing brick wall.

@MeBigbrain @ItsSkyDragonz You still have to repair your stuff no matter what. Accidents happen.

like nim :blobcat3c:

@ItsSkyDragonz I think it's not about durability but more about how easy it is to repair. If you have a hole in the wall, depending on the size of the hole you can patch it or use dry wall with DryDex (that's a brand and I don't know what the actual thing is called).

Sheetrock is the scam of a lifetime.
"What should my walls be made with? Wood? Stone? Metal? Ah, this sheetrock is perfect!" - an idiot
Literally turns to sludge with contact with water, and breaks upon bumping into fucking anything with little force.
"Ah, this paper mache house is the perfect thing for protecting my family and all my belongings", words of an absolute mad man

@mint @voltrina @netdoll I miss TrueOS. It was the only BSD that I could actually use.
