@Forestofenchantment @PurpCat @djsumdog @branman65 There are still malls in my area but the arcades in them are empty (in terms of people).
Though claw machine and stack type games seemed to fall out of fashion. They made sense back when it was a luxury to own something like a smartphone or even an iPod Touch which is why they were popular choices for prizes, but everyone owns those things now.
Oh yeah. I didn't include the best one.

(Yeah these are over a year old now, but I still find it pathetic)
@PurpCat @Forestofenchantment @djsumdog @branman65 Yeah, I'm well aware of the Flappy Bird and Fruit Ninja cabinets, but I never see anyone play those.
The only new arcade games with any effort put in to them seem to be Japan-only, but it seems to be mostly rhythm games.
I was mostly talking about the 6th gen when arcade games truly started to decline and consoles still primarily used memory cards. It would've at least incentivize people to go to arcades because they could unlock and download new content for their console games that way.
@Forestofenchantment @PurpCat @djsumdog @branman65 Arcade games should've taken a page from F-Zero AX (connectivity with console games via memory cards) to keep themselves relevant.
@coolboymew Yeah, this guy is shilling literal scams.

@beardalaxy
>My guess is that there is a level of nuance that is missed when viewed through a modern lens, especially as English speakers.
I don't know what else it could be. Was she an actual (biological) female mistaken for male at birth? Did she somehow changed biological sex at some point in her life? Was she too tomboyish that she was called a male by her peers? I never played the game. I only know about it through DYKGaming.
A lot of people think that Japanese media has always been socially conservative, but when you really look at it, they were including subtle LGBT themes before the west embraced it. Most of it was just removed during localization. Phantasy Star II had a piano teacher that was heavily implied to be gay, but his dialogue was butchered in the NA release. One of the DS Harvest Moon games had same-sex marriage in the Japanese version. Phoenix Wright apparently had some gay chef whose lines were altered in international releases.
Maybe it could just be that the Japanese being somewhat more open to sexual themes in otherwise family-friendly content meant that they could sneak in some (implied) LGBT characters in their media.
>I bet if the remake came out two years from now that would have been scrapped due to how the social climate is shifting. Or maybe not... I'm willing to bet that the ttyd superfans either fully support that shit or at the very least are fine with it.
I think it would still be the same result if it was released two years later. This IS the type of game that attracts the autistic, trans/enby, terminally online types. I've been told that the Mario RPG games attract A LOT of trannies, which should be obvious because they are clearly the most autistic RPGs you'll ever come across.
And I don't think transgenderism will go back to being underground anytime soon. Trump promising to ban HRT and SRS for minors and AOC removing pronouns from her bio (implying that Democrats are throwing trannies under the bus) means jack shit. We don't know what is actually going to happen. If anything, I see states attempting to nullify any laws being passed kind of like how many states nullify federal raw milk bans. Illinois is already planning to do that.
@beardalaxy I wonder if the original devs knew what transgender even is when designing the original character.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but Paper Mario fans are even worse than Earthbound/Mother fans.
@beardalaxy Isn't the whole modern agenda thing just Vivan being trans, which was already present in the Japanese version of the original game?
I will never get over the fact that people (including grown men) literally cried over this trailer for a remake of a game that they can already play.

@PurpCat And Buffalo Wild Wings.
I found an interactive map where you can find restaurants that still use beef tallow instead of seed oils in their fryers.
#bluesky is telling their history without mentioning that #ActivityPub and #mastodon already existed. saying they wanted to open up social media. pathetic.
How to self-host Bluesky:

Of course, you can't self-host it. But this article is interesting because it provides a honest description of their stack written by someone who appears to be a true believer.
@djsumdog @PurpCat
>Do you happen to have the PDF for "Nobody Died at Sandyhook"? It's been removed from the archive.
I do not. I wasn't even aware that, and I never read that.
I've heard rumors about The Internet Archive censoring things, but I don't know the full extent of their policies. These recordings are just Adam Lanza's philosophical rants on culture and conformity. He never said anything about wanting to kill anyone else but himself. They're just philosophical ramblings on anarcho-primitivism, anti-culture, and anti-natalism.
@PurpCat The Sandy Hook families (assuming the event was real and organic) need to listen to Adam Lanza's philosophical rants from his (now deleted) YT account.
