@wowaname And it goes both ways.
@wowaname Internet and TV can make something bigger than it actually is. Someone might see more trans people online and think that it's spreading like a virus even though it's unlikely that they will encounter an actual trans person the next time they go outside.
@1OO1 @gabriel He said in an interview that he always wanted to escape civilization since his teenage years, but I guess you can argue that could have also been a false memory implanted in him.

@1OO1 I love how @gabriel got his idea for LSN because he wanted to prove Ted Kaczynski wrong. Honestly, I think the best refutation of Ted's ideas are these essays from a writer going by the alias "Son of Waru". He explains why Ted's revolution is destined to fail, why "surrogate activities" are not artificial, and how Ted got a lot of Ellul's (his biggest inspiration) talking points wrong.

Speaking of Ellul. I think he is a better remodel than Ted. He wasn't 100% against modern technology. In his books he argues that most of our problems come from technique (the mindset that maximum efficiency should be put above all else), not technology alone. And the mindset of technique became dominant because of people abandoning Christ (or spirituality for non-Christians), which was happening before the industrial revolution.
