@beardalaxy Charging people for the original copy while allowing people to redistribute it guarantees that at least some people will pay for it.
@beardalaxy I was actually hoping to release it commercially. It would be extremely dirt cheap like a dollar, but the game being open-source means that you could get it for free elsewhere. But I don't know if the game is even worth a dollar, even if paying is optional.
@beardalaxy I just don't feel like my game programming skills have improved at all since high school. I mean, I learned design patterns among other things during college, but I feel like I should be making my dream game now.
@Rocket I clicked the SuperBowl hashtag since it was trending. It was mostly the "Mastodon side" posting "Superb Owl" posts. Given that it is that side doing it, I was wondering if it was out of hate for Elon Musk.
I just need to accept that the game I'm currently working on will be heavily flawed. There will be balancing issues. People will most likely find exploits. I may have been programming games for over a decade, but I never had the time to actually work on something this big and be close to finishing it.
If someone doesn't like it, tell them to reverse engineer it (assuming the source code isn't available) and rewrite it.
I want to take a moment to publicly honor my mom and my wife, Lyn and Caroline, for the herculean effort they put into saving me from a life sentence.
They worked side-by-side, day after day, for years. Despite many setbacks and countless challenges, they never gave up. The amount of work it took to get me to where I am today is beyond what most people can probably imagine. My fellow prisoners often told me how fortunate I was to have a dedicated wife and mom like mine.
Many people helped us along the way and we are deeply grateful to all of them. I would still be locked in a cell behind a prison wall were it not for all the support we received. THANK YOU!
@Forestofenchantment @cassidyclown @nyanide @bleedingphoenix Textboards don't have this problem. I suggested that on the 8chan bunkers when people really started to CP spam the hell out of them, but a lot of them refused because they liked posting images and video.
So I thought of a fictional currency for an alien species where the "money" is actual a form of energy that is stored in the body and can be transferred from one body to another. From a video game design stand-point, it's brilliant because it's an in-universe explain on how the characters are able to carry that much money.
