A follow up to what is so disturbing about this proposal in France to criminalize 'incitement' of piracy:

"The act of inciting by any means, including an advertisement, the use of an online public communication service, a device, or software, allowing access to a competition or sporting event without authorization"

To ban the public from advocating free expression is utmost disturbing.

"France Mulls" some bad idea just about once every six months, and then after 3 months of fierce debate and deliberation, when the bill is ready to sign, the government collapses.
The prime minister gets fired, the president is forced to call snap elections, and then the incoming incoming prime minister vows to perform a comprehensive study the plan. Then it's sent to committee and never seen or heard from again.

I'm beginning to believe this whole process is a scam to pick the pockets of lobbyists by making them think they have a say in French legislative process.

France Mulls Instant IPTV Blocks, €750K Fines & New Piracy Crime of ‘Incitement’:

I want to make it unequivocally clear that I wholeheartedly advocate for the elimination of the artificial creation they call 'copyright law' and push forward the ideas of the free dissemination of information, of which political opponents may refer to as 'piracy' or 'incitement'.

To surrender free expression for the benefit of a tiny minority is to hand over democracy as well by it's very nature. Whether I agree with the idea it works or doesn't being less material given it's still seemingly the least bad governance system man has implemented thus far. To forego it for the benefit of a tiny minority is insane.

The left may argue for socialism under the logic a growing economic disparity between the haves and have nots being bad or dangerous for society, but this disparity is not the real underlying problem. The cause of this disparity is largely the result of the creation of copyrights and patents that business majors are taught in 101 classes, startup courses, and so forth. This is the means by which exploitation occurs and one of the major things that need attacking. For without it (among other regulations) large enterprises wouldn't be able to achieve the level of monopolies, duopolies, and minimal competition in a truly free market in the first place.

Even the copyright cartel themselves are openly admitting to said exploitation, here in their own words:

“The proliferation of matches and competition from other audiovisual content, both sporting and non-sporting, creates an overabundance of content that challenges the balance of the football audiovisual exploitation rights market.”

The cyber awareness industry - phishing simulators and such - is almost all complete garbage, just so y'all know.

If you look at your proxy logs, you'll quickly discover you've got entire departments whose job involves opening links and documents from people unknown (also almost every manager does it, when reviewing CVs etc).

If your security depends on nobody clicking a bad link, security and IT fucked up their jobs, and awareness training is just a sticking plaster on your own poor choices.

@wowaname @cowanon I think they would be better if residential and commercial zones were allowed to mix and we had looser restrictions on running businesses in homes. I've seen designs of homes with corner stores where garages are supposed to be. I think they're kind of cool.

@beardalaxy You could try OpenMW which is an open-source replacement engine for Morrowind. It comes with OpenMW CS which allows you to create mods or even new games with it. And since OpenMW is open-source you can publish them as standalone games.

This sudden "suburbs are le bad" everywhere has to be astroturfed by guys who want us to accept living in ze pod.

>You think many people know how to make mechanical coin-operated mechanisms or TTL circuits anymore?

I still see gumball machines.

@beardalaxy I'm talking about dumpsters behind stores. Stores throw away food that doesn't meet their standards and that's where freegans get their food.

@djsumdog @Starprophet @ChristiJunior @EdBoatConnoisseur Whether he's real or not doesn't matter. He's now a myth living in the minds of people, just like king Arthur. He will keep on living and being real as long as people remember the myth, then after a while japs will turn him into an anime girl as part of a video game and a thousand lewd images will pop up, completing the cycle.

I think he's an obviously psyop patsy. They literally flipped the script the week after where the "CEO" came from a normal family in the middle of nowhere suburbia, where "Luigi's Mansion" came from a rich family that never needed health insurance. His last name in Italian literally means "big eater" and we was found eating in a McDonalds days later, wearing the same clothes, and carrying the manifesto that he had while shooting the guy.

Give me a fucking break.

>Straight up, I wish that RPG Maker 3 was available for PC.
Never used it or heard of it until now, but seeing footage from it, it reminds me of the adventure editor in Spore: Galactic Adventures, which from what I've heard was inspired by Video Game Tycoon.

There is a good reason why you don't see engines like this for professionals. Event trigger systems are very limited compared to actual programming. This prevents you from actually making your game unique, like having a Paper Mario-style combat system or replacing the turn-base combat with a fighting game style combat system.

>If GNU didn't exist, Linux could not have been written

I didn't say that if GNU didn't exist. I said if GNU/Hurd was usable back then. Linus had goals of his own. He may have been inspired by GNU but he didn't intend to create a kernel for them.

@Suiseiseki @PurpCat @beardalaxy @sun I know, but both Linus and RMS had intentions of creating their own OSes.

I could see an alternate timeline where the GNU/Hurd was actually completed and Linux ended up being some minimalist Unix-like operating system unrelated to GNU.

Someone should invent dumpsters that you have to pay to open (unless you own it or are the garbage man). That way, stores can still profit off of freegans.
