@PurpCat If I were them, I would salvage the thing by adding a transparent prism or dome on top of the table so you could play pseudo-holographic games using the Pepper's Ghost illusion. The table is probably the only device big enough to project a full game that way.
Why is this a thing? Someone I know recently got one. Who wants to spend nearly $1000 on a device that just plays digital versions of board games?
@cjd My theory is that there is a certain faction of the elites who hate the idea of a world government because it will destroy the war economy, which has been tried and true for ages now.

>I think if someone is making a 2D game they should probably just stick to Godot though.
I think Love2D is a better choice as it is more lightweight. Sure it may lack conveniences like a level editor or pathfinding, but it's simple enough for a middle schooler to pickup as Lua is one of the easiest programming languages to learn. There is also Pygame which is basically the same thing, but for Python. I see kids programming with these tools all the time, so they are easy for anyone to pickup.
I don't think a full-blown engine is needed for writing 2D games. You just need a basic grasp on geometry and trigonometry in order to work with 2D.
By the way, the Twilight Princess decompilation was finished. Work on the PC port has begun!

>Hopefully there will just be a return to games being .. well games, not tech demos with some shit story or god awful art drawn by a team of lesbians who probably can't even finish a visual novel.
Even if games stopped prioritizing graphics or physics, it still won't matter as long as developers keep relying on bloated engines. Just look at all the 2D indie games running on fucking Unity or Unreal when they can easily just use SDL instead.
The whole "buying a high-end gaming PC to play Minecraft" meme exists for a reason and it's because of incompetent devs.
