MoneroMarket added a Wanted section to request goods/services for XMR, which is a welcome addition. I played around with selling a few things in the past, but knowing what XMR holding buyers actually want would make it a lot easier to create a functional marketplace (even if it's currently empty, being added just today):

https://moneromarket.io/?category=wanted

They also added affiliate links to encourage referrals. Every account created through one gives a small cut of platform fees from every sale to the referrer. I can understand why they'd make that from a growth perspective, though of course the shill aspect of USE MY AFFILIATE LINK GUISE!! makes me uncomfortable with using it at all...

Monero Market is still a centralized website with a lot of the usual third-party suspects lurking in the background, of course, which is a shame because I don't know a less cucked equivalent. In the absence of the Perfect, the Good will have to suffice for now.

In 2016 Donald Trump said, “I love Wikileaks.”

In 2019 Donald Trump said, “I never heard of Wikileaks.”

Why do you think he betrayed Julian Assange? My own feeling is that it was to protect Hillary Clinton.

@dcc @sysrq @charlie_root @kirby @splitshockvirus Not a fan of Wayland; I'd rather stick with X.

Anyway, it looks like Wayland's team isn't super interested in delivering working software. Basic shit is still broken and they have had nearly 15 years to deliver something that works. It's another freedesktop.org clusterfuck. What works, apparently, are new and exciting ways to draw an xterm: even if they had fixed the basic shit, there's no network protocol, which was a dealbreaker for me even if I had no problem with the way they fucked window managers.

Incidentally, last time I checked this list of complaints some random guy had about Wayland, the Rust Evangelism Strike Force had overtaken the thread and there had been months of daily arguments: https://gist.github.com/probonopd/9feb7c20257af5dd915e3a9f2d1f2277 . It looks like they are back to arguing about Wayland instead of Rust. (It must be tiring to inject discussions of Rust into every technical conversation on the internet and then maintain all of them. I can usually only barely keep up with my notifications here on FSE, I can't fathom keeping up with a million comment threads across a million sites.)

I do not know anything about Arcan, but this looks like another attempt to subsume the entire computer: https://arcan-fe.com/2021/09/20/arcan-as-operating-system-design/ . (They also spelled "Google" by using an image of eyeballs for the "oo": https://s0.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/wpcom-smileys/twemoji/2/svg/1f440.svg . Automatic point deduction. Sorry, I don't make the rules.) I skimmed the rest of the manifesto, it doesn't look super interesting right now, maybe something to check back on in five years.

Only in a society that prioritizes human creativity and entrepreneurship can individuals make the sorts of breakthroughs necessary to revolutionize energy production. youtu.be/tqFta07PTXk

@black6 Literally all open-source software allows you to monetize it. If not, it's just source available.

@LukeAlmighty The tweet is fake by the way. I made it in Inspect Element.
