The vast majority of problems in the game industry can easily be solved if we had a truly free market where "intellectual property" laws don't exist. That way games will have to compete with other games in the same franchise.
Don't like how Nintendo is casualizing Pokemon? Just buy the Pokemon games made by this other studio. Don't like how Blizzard makes the newer Diablo games either online or mobile only? Play the Diablo games made by this other company that makes them for PC and playable offline.
@coolboymew I'm so out of touch with modern games that I don't know the full extent of what you are talking about, but as a hobbyist gamedev, I do agree that balancing difficulty is hard. Unless you pay close attention, it's easy to make your game extremely easy or extremely hard.
Story Difficulty Mode is just a result of games prioritizing story over gameplay and now you have a bunch of casual gamers who enjoy games for their unique story telling and nothing more.
@coolboymew Just wait a few more days and you can experience a real-time dungeon crawling adventure with lives and permadeath.

I just created a website for Ioncom (my gamedev studio). Nothing much yet. Will get a proper domain soon.
@tinosoft Is it still airing on reruns?
@wowaname I have a thread full of ideas that you can steal.
@berkberkman I remembered that infamous gas scene. I thought that I was crazy for thinking that scene was real, but thank God for archival footage.
@Jens_Rasmussen It means being lied, cheated, scammed, and/or stolen from. It comes from the word "gypsy" which is why it's considered a slur.
