What's with Nintendo thinking that they can make their games look modern by adding lyrics to them (Super Mario Odysee, Smash Ultimate, Kirby Air Riders)? There is nothing special about adding lyrics to your games. That's been a thing since the Sega CD or even before that with arcade games like Psycho Soldier.

@_anti That's Drew DeVault. He is the author of a popular window manager for Wayland known as Sway, along with running SourceHut, a GitHub alternative.

However, he is mostly known for being extremely opinionated and shoving his far-left politics into everything. For example, on his SourceHut service, the TOS basically requires you to denounce right-wing beliefs and prohibits crypto related projects. His blog is full of opinionated articles regarding FOSS and they are often very political and very far-left.

He was one of the people who tried to cancel Stallman and even tried to anonymously create The Stallman Report website, but everyone knew that he was behind it. He wanted Stallman to be replaced with either a POC or someone in the LGBT community. That should show you what he is like. He also tried to cancel someone creating another Wayland window manager known as Hyprland because the Discord server allowed locker room behavior and Drew thought it was transphobic.

Even outside of his politics, he is very closed-minded and has little tolerance for other people's opinions. He puts people who still insist on X11 on the same level as flat-earther's and anti-vaxxers for one. He also used to run a Gemini server and blocked any client that made favicon requests because he believed that it shouldn't be in the protocol.

If you want to know the full details on Drew DeVault, I highly recommend reading the OP on the KiwiFarms thread about him.

TL;DR he is a prime example of the cancer that is killing FOSS from within. He shoves far-left sociopolitical commentary into everything and labels anyone that disagrees with him as the enemy that must be purged. He wants the entire FOSS community to cater to his narrow worldview and will go out of his way to cancel anyone who stands against it or is neutral towards it, including someone like Richard Stallman.

[2/2] principle, many Britons are so poor they could hardly afford one.

*More than 1.6m sign petition opposing Starmer’s plan for digital ID cards.* Bravo for Britons, resisting government ID cards. But the petition won't change the plan by itself. They need to organize to pressure MPs to vote it down. People are supposed to use snoop phones to prove they have ID. What happens to people who don't have one? Aside from people like me who reject them on

@xianc78 if the antifa ban goes through in NL we are in for some 🍿 times with drew.

It seems like there is no rock bottom with this guy. Even after having his embarrassing Reddit history exposed and being exposed as the man behind The Stallman Report, he only doubled down. He added all of this (minus the Luigi sprite, which has been there for a while) to his blog's bio section shortly after the Charlie Kirk assassination, and Antifa being declared a terrorist organization, by the way.

@lain Step 0 in dealing with toxic behavior in any project is to ban Drew Devault

@beardalaxy He is heavily inspired by Luke Smith, so that should be no big surprise.

Alright... I hate doing this, but, I'm kind of in a dire situation. I lost my job a month ago, and I've got by on the vacation pay I was owed. Well, that's run dry, and I've had absolutely bad luck finding new work.

And now rent is due. So I'm trying to open commissions, even though I don't feel prepared for this at all yet. I really don't know what to value my work at, so.. I suppose I'm looking at $20-25 for a piece? We can work on that. DM me on discord at maidenxiii if you're interested.

The 2009 Swine Flu Pandemic was an absolute joke, yet I am somehow both nostalgic and addicted to this flash game.

"Not to mention Gab suffers from what I refer to as the “8chan problem”, or perhaps more succinctly, the “quarantine problem”. If you make a new service just for people banned from an existing service, you will end up with only that audience. What is attractive about Gab to people not banned from Twitter? Absolutely nothing. There is no reason to go there as someone unaffected by Twitter’s censorship, and furthermore, even as someone affected by Twitter’s censorship, I have no reason to go there because I know people there will mostly agree with what I have to say anyways and it will gain no traction outside of that audience."

I am so sick of politics/philosophy blogs/channels that use nu-4chan memes in their thumbnails.

@djsumdog I've noticed that prior to the Charlie Kirk shooting, the whole left/right divide was kind of on the decline (it still existed, but the mainstream left and right were finding common ground on some issues like Epstein, Palantir, and even the war in Gaza), but after the shooting it has went back in full force.

As for Roman Storm, people getting arrested for crypto related projects, even if they don't violate any laws doesn't surprise me.

There was one libertarian activist named Ian Freeman who was arrested for selling bitcoin without a license, even though there is no such license. He followed the law, but the feds were trying to get him arrested for the longest time (he was part of The Free State Project and there is a certain FBI agent that has been dedicated to stalking and cracking down on Free Staters) and they finally found an excuse to arrest him when an elderly couple got scammed and went to his ATM to buy bitcoin.

The worst part is that if he was just selling bitcoin and wasn't expressing libertarian sentiment, he would've probably gotten a lighter sentence or wouldn't have been sent to jail at all. It just shows that you can be punished more if you hold an ideology that the judge doesn't like.
