>Really surprising that RWS is still around, considering what little output they've had since POSTAL 2 has been bad.
I can only assume that Postal 2 has attracted new players over the years as people are looking for games that aren't afraid of being "politically incorrect", and that's what's keeping RWS afloat all these years.
The game is often recommended by YouTubers like SyntheticMan and on imageboards when people ask for good Western games or offensive games.
@beardalaxy It turns out that they probably were using AI. The dev team used outside artists and perhaps they were using AI as a shortcut, at least in the trailer. They claim the in-game assets were legitimate.
However the controversy was so bad that they closed down the studio. That must really suck.
It looks like RWS was planning on publishing some Postal spin-off game but later pulled the plug because of accusations of the game using AI generated assets, despite there being no proof and the only evidence is the art-style giving the vibe and the appearance of a triple-barrel shotgun.
I personally think the game looks garbage either way because it looks like someone put pixelshit billboards in the Unity engine, but I can't tell if it's AI generated or not. If it is AI generated then I'm pretty sure it was an image to image conversion which to me used enough human input to not be considered "slop", but I don't know what other people think.
The anti-AI crowd can be a bit extreme to the point where even the use of AI filters is enough to call for boycotts. And personally, I think AI slop is 100x better than "asset flipper" slop because at least AI will produce something that is somewhat original, even if it is using data from other works.

Question for musicians! 🎶🎄🎶
I’m helping someone put together a set of Christmas music for a last-minute holiday party gig.
Looking for simple/easy arrangements for one guitar and one female vocalist. Both are talented but have limited prep time and minimal Christmas repertoire.
Any recommendations on where to get good sheet music online?
It’s getting hard to tell which websites are legit and which are just spammy slop.
Free is great, but a small fee or subscription is doable.
Thanks!
I was sent this very technical presentation on the potential of a 'digital control grid'. The presenter is very skeptical that technology is sufficiently advanced to run an individualized technological slavery system.
I'm currently writing up my response, but I'm curious for thoughts from any of you who have the time to sit through this.
In truth, I wholeheartedly disagree with many of the conclusions and assertions made, but I found much of it to be a valuable overview of critical concerns.

@coolboymew This is the same country that banned Mortal Kombat and was the reason why the European version of Contra featured an all robot cast.

If you are playing on Newgrounds, there seems to be an issue with Brave Browser where it erases save files. I'm trying to find the source of this issue but for now, I would recommend using a different browser or downloading the game instead.
I think as I gamedev, I'm probably most similar to Chris Sawyer. Granted, I don't make the type of games he's known for, but I compare his stubborn insistence on writing his games almost entirely in Assembly, even when that practice was obsolete to my insistence on writing my games in C++ and SDL when even the triple AAA studios are using pre-built engines like Unity and Unreal. Also, he specialized in isometric games which I have a soft-spot for.
It's such a shame that he stopped making games after Locomotion (the mobile ports of RTC don't count). Though him being a private person kept him out of drama and controversy unlike most other gamedevs. Seriously, he is probably the least polarizing gamedev because of his privacy.
A few years ago, I would've said John Carmack, but he was focused on making his games as cutting-edge as possible while I'm perfectly content with just making simple engines. Plus, I'm not a fan of his post-game endeavors. His work on Oculus obviously helped the creation of the Metaverse, and I don't think his AI startup is going to go anywhere and might even end up worse than his failed space start-up.
Could anyone see if my game loads up in their browser and works with Chrome OS and Mac OS? I'm curious and don't have access to either of those. My phone running android doesn't work with it so I want to know what devices are actually supported.
