@beardalaxy
I seriously don't know, how some weird textures could have triggered my spider sences about this game, but I remember saying, that it just didn't feel right graphically.
Well, Twitter is slowly starting to collect clips now.
@beardalaxy
While I am in a ranting mood.
Cinematic intros are just retarded. I started the game and created the character, The character editor looked fine. But then, I got this linear 20min long section, where I noticed the graphical problems. And I COULDN'T JUST PAUSE THE GAME, AND CHANGE THE SETTINGS!!!!
So, by the time, I got to the options menu, half of the intro was gone, and since the game didn't pause, 95% of the intro was gone, before I got the settings better.
And now, there is no reset button, except deleting my well made Annie Leonhart, and restarting my progress. Who thinks, that this is the best way to start the game? Why cannot you give me a single 5 min gameplay first, so I can figure this out, before you blast me with the cinematic intro?
@beardalaxy
BTW, I agre completely.
When you look at the Phantom pain or Blacklist, both games are still using only the old 3D graphics with no insane post processing like ray Tracing. Yet, look at them. All textures perfectly sharp and readable. You can put them through as many cinematic filters as you want. And the games just look GREAT.
Where the fuck have we lost the edge? What more do you need, that you're willing to risk a complete graphical collapse in pursuit of one more reflection?
@LukeAlmighty it's crazy that games from 20 years ago have a more stable picture than current gen games do. There's no stuttering, no weird shimmering and ghosting, reflections aren't noticeably incorrect and shifting all the time, transparency is actual transparent instead of dithered... I could go on. Even 10 years ago none of this was really an issue. Sure, models and textures aren't of objectively higher quality, but there's nothing in the game that is just constantly ripping you out of the immersion. I actually end up needing to turn screen space reflection off in a lot of games because of how weird it can look. I tend to not use raytracing because of how things can get smeared with it on (which is only just now starting to be kind of fixed).
And of course, not only is the image significantly harder to look at, the games run like shit too and there isn't nearly as much artistry as there used to be. Those old games were running on systems that were using under 1gb of slow RAM.
@beardalaxy
I think this image says it all. LOD is a great technique. And an important one. But, is has to be dome manually, and set with some reason. But then, a real genius manager came in, and asked: But couldn't we automate it?
And somehow, they ended up with LOD so dinamic, that it can decide to use the lowest model for a character, that is standing right in front of you.
People are trying to make engines, that rewrite 1/2 of the game on the go, and then, it takes 1 slight hickup, for all the ststems to collapse at once.
@beardalaxy @VD15 @matrix
I just don't understand, how is it possible, that they made Rise with no need for modern GPU vomit, and after that, they use literally all of it.
@matrix @LukeAlmighty Good LOD
I don't want to be too harsh this early, betas are supposed to be for weeding out issues like this. Really just depends if they can fix everything by February. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the performance of the final game was near identical. MH World was also a certified chugger on release.
@matrix
Well, I didn't measure, because my PC is up to the spec...
But I looked at the Steam screenshots from others
https://steamcommunity.com/app/3065170/screenshots/
Holy fucking shit, this game needs exorcism.
Pressing Esc does not pause the game btw...
So, here is the bonus round no.1.
Where on the keyboard is the key "end" and when is the last time you used it?
Max details...
My GPU is on fire.... But I still get fucking dithering? I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines. I hate modern game engines.
Also, while I was trying to set up the graphics, 1/2 of the tutorial literally played itself out on the background without my imput.
That is such a horrible way to start a game. Really caring about the first impressions here.
The game is even uglier on my PC, then on youtube. Everything is blury except for the obvious dithering, that provides sharp dots across the screen.
Why do devs make this shit?
Look at the moutains in the background. Do they look sharp? Do they at least look 2010 sharp?
No... They look like something from the age of Drakan. That game was from 1999.
I will be away from home for the entire beta of MH wilds...

Either way, if you want to see the train wrack, you can try it now. But I would still recomend Rise instead.
@FeelsOttoMan
I thought that the point was, that the strong can misgender whoever they want.
