Never forget, that kids have launch money, while millenials are bored at meeting, wondering how to spend their money.

Switch 2 Pricing Discussion

@beardalaxy ¨
What were you smoking? :omegalul:

Ok, first off, I do get, that Nintendo believes themselves to have a perfect cash cow. They made an analysis, and found out, that they are the only portable console on the market.... but:

Portable PC market was literally never better.
Steam deck is and always was marketed as a luxury item. And even that is cheaper now then the Switch 2. It is CHEAPER.

And that is before you download the first free game, and play it online for free.

Sorry, but Switch 2 is literally a horrible offer in all ways. Some idiots will buy it for brand loyality. Damn, I have a collector co-worker who just buys everything nintendo just to keep it, but when it comes to gaming, I literally cannot see the value there at all.

@alyx
Also, adults have so much more money, so I don't blame the execs for focusing on that market. Hell, only last year, mobile devs finally found out, that horny gamer girls exist :omegalul:

@LukeAlmighty
>They made it bigger
I've heard people argue before, and I didn't quite believe it, but I'm starting to. Gaming is not for children anymore. They're not focusing on making games or consoles for children. The entire market is focusing solely on adults.
Kids can cope with a smaller screen because they're holding it closer to their face anyway, since they're, you know, small kids. But adults need bigger screens, bigger surfaces to grasp, etc.

@alyx
Yeah, I kinda agree.
On one hand, kiddies have to play on phone, since bringing a laptop with you everywhere is seriously annoying. (Trust me, I fought authorities for quite a long time for it :D)

But, GBA SP was literally perfection, because I could just have it on me without any problem. And as we just debated lower on the thread, there really is (almost) no alternative these days. So, it's not like they have a choice.

@matrix
Why cannot they hide the sticks in any way :pepeDread:

Well, I guess that is one. Thank you

So many people have expectations of GTA 6 so huge, that I am starting to ask myself if I'm fucking coping over it.

I just don't believe it can match even GTA 5 in most ways. Because GTA 5 was released in a unified era, while now, GTA 6 will be released in an era of social boycotts. Not to mention, that outright pessimism too.

Not to mention, that GTA V made money from a live service model, but recreating a successful life service is a fucking russian rulete. Most probable case will be, that it ends up even hurting the 5 online, while 6 just won't catch on.

@matrix
But my phone is smaller volume-wise then Gameboy advanced SP. Nah, I think that part would actually be fine. (Especially, since I do want it to be relatively weak)

I know, that the main issue would be the expectation of modern 2 stick gamepad though.

Yes, I unironically want a gameboy advanced sized handheld with Steam OS.

I know, that it's pushing the limits of technology, but seriously, it's not pushing THAT MUCH...

@picofarad
It's not about the 80%...

It|s about the remaining 600 games ;D

Now, all that Valve needs to win is to
1) release a pocket console
2) Add games to android Steam

And you have won the market.

@Bleukitty
Bad commenter, bad...

You do NOT spit at an 87.5% decrease just because it isn't at 0 yet. This is how you train resentment and helplessness.

Fuck you, this post should have been a celebratory one.

You know the feeling of disgust, when someone does something insanely insensitive, and you want to vomit just thinking how could they be so offensive?

No? Me neither... Until I saw this. Come on man....... I don't care, that it might be a good feature demonstration. This is just disgusting.

I take everything back.
This is revolutionary. What a briliant design decision. This makes switch 2 scientifically better then my phone.
