@beardalaxy @tomie Yeah I thought this was already a settled thing, like wasn't there a Mario ripoff that Nintendo sued for and the courts said you can't copyright gameplay mechanics, therefore anyone can make a platformer? I guess the patent is just another level deeper and Nintendo is feeling like it's time to try again...

Bleh, next time I won't cheap out on a monitor, even though this cheapo Chinese one has good color the backlight is so uneven dark games look super garbage.
@xianc78 Been thinking about that too, a lot of people I know my age are now just settled in to doing nothing and sitting in front of the computer and getting high. They seem like they're really in a terrible place but that's what they want to do. And for some reason the suggestion to something fun outside of their home is abhorrent to them and elicits a bitter response. Like "I don't want to meet anyone, everyone's a scumbag, everyone sucks" whatever. And money definitely isn't an issue for them. When these people hit middle age it will hit them hard, because they'll realize they spent 20 adult years of freedom not doing anything interesting. And it sucks, lately I feel like I have to cut them out of my life or else I'll be sucked into that too.

Why is it the norm for websites to save settings in cookies? Every time I clear my cookies I have to reset the 20 settings I change. Dumb. Saving a 4KB file for my settings on a corporate server can't be that big of a deal.
@LukeAlmighty I was playing The First Descendant and the environments are so boring I was left wondering how much of the game was just automatically generated by UE. It really is a lot less impressive when you can just make a lush field filled with trees and shrubs at the push of a button, with almost no input from an artist, even though that might not even be the case there.
