@matana @RehnSturm256 oddly enough i didn't feel it with kirby and the forgotten land even though i 100% completed that. not with half life, portal 1 or 2, rogue legacy 2 (just games beaten in the last year or so). i didn't even feel it with the last of us and that's one of my favorite games of all time.
another game i did feel it on though was dust: an elysian tail. i 100%d it back in 2014 or 2013 i think and had that realization of how i'd never be able to play it again. well i forgot that by 2018 and bought it on switch and you know what, i still haven't beaten it there. it's just not the same as it was the first time i played it.
i've wondered what it will be like on the opposite end of the coin, from the perspective of the developer. i've been working on my game for over 7 years. i'll admit i'm a little bit anxious about what kind of feeling i'll have when it is finally done and released. will i be elated? super happy that i finally finished it and everyone can play it? or will i get depressed, knowing that such a massive part of my life for the past near-decade is now over? it's really weird to think about. i don't know what this feels like but perhaps it will be something like your first born child moving away.
of course i get recommend this video today.
when i started playing rift apart, i was in the mindset of "this is just another game i need to get off my backlog because i won't be able to even play it soon and tears of the kingdom is coming out right around the corner."
i maintained that line of thought throughout the entire game.
right until i look at the save select screen for the last time.
it hit me pretty hard and is now hitting even harder that i actually really, really enjoyed the game and even though it was only, what, 16 hours or something i felt really attached to the characters and the story.
the last time this happened was all the way back in, what... 2015? i 100% completed infamous second son and got hit with that wave of post-game depression, realizing that i had done everything there was to do and that if i ever wanted to play it again, it would never be the same. it's a pretty weird, surreal experience.
i can't imagine what it's like to play something like an MMO for a decade and then have the servers shut down. i know it'll inevitably happen to PSO2 at some point. don't wanna' think about that and i've only played for 4 years.
@veru thanks, I'll check it out!
@maksim lmao xD
@maksim it is fully finished. i don't actually have a webcam right now and haven't felt in the streaming/recording mood for a while so it's kinda more trouble than its worth.
this is a 4 year old video of me playing through the fire and the flames though. measure your expectations because i'm not like god tier or anything but i think i'm alright: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxz1XI1a3bI
i've gotten better since then but yeah just don't wanna record anything lol.
here's my scorespy profile if you're curious: https://clonehero.scorespy.online/users/beardalaxy

Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart - Review
I'm actually... Kind of sad it's over now. Unless I manage to get a PS5 for cheap somewhere somehow down the line for some reason I'll never be able to play it again.
I get that way with some other games when I 100% them. It's bittersweet, knowing a game was really good but also knowing that you've seen everything there is in it, and trying to replay it just isn't the game as the first time you experienced it.
That just goes to show that I think it is a really good game, though. If I owned a PS5 I would probably start playing the new game + mode and try to 100% complete it right away, but I know I wouldn't have enough time so I'm just gonna leave it at that. If I ever get to play again I'd be more than happy to replay it a bunch of times.
Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart - Review
Just finished rift apart! It was a pretty fun game! I mean, it takes a lot for a game to hook me enough to where I'll play in excess of a couple hours a session (3 sessions, two of which were 6-7 hours and the last one being 4-5). I definitely enjoyed it :) minor issues aside, the gameplay itself was super solid and the story was good too! It still had a lot of charm and moments where I genuinely laughed, although there were some annoying over the top kind of things.
It is definitely a classic video game, if you have a ps5 for some reason I would highly suggest giving it a playthrough! There's no bullshit in it, just a good ol' game and it's really fun. I'd say I hope it comes to pc one day, but none of the other R&C games have so I wouldn't hold out for it. That's why I was happy to be able to play it on my friend's ps5.
It didn't feel as good as the first one did, and I think that might come down to the animation quality. It definitely has plenty of its own mechanics and the whole premise of the story is great too. The last game seems like it was a little bit bigger in scope while still being really tight, whereas this one is smaller in scope but still equally as tight. It definitely could not have been pulled off on the ps4 that's for sure, the switching between various worlds and dimensions happens super seamlessly and they're like COMPLETELY different scenes, really cool tech on display. It runs at 60fps too so that's nice :)
I actually didn't really use any of the wackier guns, just stuck with the classics because I wanted to go a little bit monkey mode.
The Clank and Glitch gameplay was done well enough, but unlike the first game I never felt particularly challenged by any of the puzzles. They were all pretty easy, the only time I got a little stuck was at the very end and it took me only a few minutes to figure out, and would have been even without NPCs giving me super blatant hints on what to do.
I gotta say I do actually like all of the new characters. They all seemed pretty worthy of being in the game. Glitch was pretty charming, and the counterparts to Ratchet and Clank, Rivet and Kit, were also pretty cool and unique enough to justify being their own characters instead of just a pallette swap. The only one I didn't like was Zurkon Jr, he was annoying as shit.
I think a 9/10 is a little too high, but maybe like an 8.9/10 is perfect. I had a really good time with it.
@matana Doug bowser: NoA ceo, real
Gary bowser: he fucked up, real
Bowser: king koopa, fake
Bowsette: hypothetical character that can't even exist, even more fake (but hot)
Baby bowser: bowser's son?, fake
Bowser jr: bowser's son that thinks peach is his mom, fake
Dry bowser: bowser after he's been drowned in lava, fake
There's bow-wow too but his name is the only thing that's relatively close
