Well, shit's fucked.
I was gonna need a new keyboard anyway so it's not like I lost anything, but I'm still mad. I have no idea what I did. I took it apart several times, looked to see if anything was fucked, replaced everything, rewashed stuff, just.... Nothing works.

Even if it is some sort of firmware issue, where like when I reset it or opened it up or something it reset or got corrupted or whatever, the company doesn't produce the keyboard anymore and all of the drivers are wiped. Had a 2 year warranty but I've had it for 3.

Gonna dig up the old keyboard now and hope that works (I really need to clean that one too, it's been sitting in storage for a long time). If it doesn't, I'll probably be heading over to Walmart in a few hours. Still going to buy a new board regardless. Dammit.

@matana ohhh I think I might have a theory. Backspace might be pressing another key so it presses that key and immediately erases it. I'll have to mess around with it some more.

It's funny that I can fix a GPU and paint an entire guitar controller while fixing its connection issues but can't clean a keyboard apparently lol.

@matana my first thought was that it was a software issue because the key that was broken would switch around all the time and it worked without issue on linux, although I don't use Linux much so I can't really confirm that. I tried replacing drivers and stuff but that didn't work so that's why I cleaned it.

But I don't see how a hardware problem would cause backspace to not work unless text is highlighted. That's fucking weird.

my keyboard has taken on a mind of its own. before i know it there will be a mysterious doom wad on my pc.

okay so now my LEDs are working and my F key is working flawlessly, sweet!
but uhhh, i've got some other problems. keys are pressing other keys and i can't use backspace unless i highlight text first. no idea wtf is going on.

@matana except now i can't use backspace unless i select text first? okay this has GOT to be a software issue, 100%. how the fuck do i fix that though???

@matana okay well idk what i did but i just fucked with it a bit and it is working now lol.

LEDs still dead though. they like keep flickering trying to turn back on, no idea what happened there. the LEDs have always been pretty spotty on this thing though, like a bunch of the colors died only like a year in to me owning it. i'm guessing they are just very low quality.

@berkberkman well, it was working without the keycap. now it isn't working at all actually. wtf

@berkberkman it actually seems like the switch works fine, it's the keycap that's messed up. if i take off the keycap it actually works.

@berkberkman nah i think they're soldered on, unfortunately. it wasn't a very expensive keyboard, relatively.

@LukeAlmighty the best way i can put it is that she was perfect before and she's still perfect now.

scratch that, everything works except my "F" key now for some reason, which is having the same problem that my spacebar, S, D, and I keys were having before. they just sometimes don't work. i cleaned the hell out of this and it fixed 4 keys in the process so why is one of them now refusing to cooperate? :S

maybe i just need a new keyboard at this point. that sucks though because i thought mechanicals were supposed to last for a lot longer, not like 3 years.

@LukeAlmighty there are definitely points where it breaks stuff, but there are also a lot of areas where if you try to do that you actually end up taking longer than you would have if you just solved things normally lol. i still did it anyway because i wanted to see if i could. you have to make some pretty elaborate setups.

@coolboymew @xianc78 i've never tried it but apparently yeah, it's incredibly easy.

hey, i'd rather have a functioning keyboard again that doesn't have keys that stop working than one with LEDs xD although the keys don't light up at all and don't have white paint, it's all clear... so it's kinda hard to see.
