well, i found out how to reduce colors, and it looks decent, but unfortunately i also lose all semi-transparency which isn't good.

@monsterislandcolonizer unfortunately not that one. i don't think it operated on a tile system, but i could be wrong.

i'm gonna try fuckin around with the tileset graphics in my game to make them more... two dimensional. more flat. they have a lot of texture right now and it does contrast a little bit with the character artwork, which if it were 3D i'd say would probably be cel shaded.

any tips for how to do that? photoshop-wise? i'm thinking of just trying to lower the amount of available colors or something to see if that strips away the little details, but i also don't want to completely decimate the image.

@ceo_of_monoeye_dating @Zerglingman @jetzkrieg @Malta66 @Zealist @condret have you considered touhou metal? Richaadeb, look up his bullet hell albums. You'll be a changed man.

I tried something new with hair this time, because my old way of drawing hair was just Not Working

it wasn't worth it btw. just a showcase of a bot for smash bros melee i had already seen working on emulator years ago. it's just a fox that shines you to death and then upsmashes lol.

@MoeBritannica yes indeed. the menus and tilesets are all stock, for the most part, but everything else is actually custom.

i'd like to get a completely custom tileset made for it one day, but i know that's going to cost a lot of money, and i didn't begin development with a custom tileset in mind so it would have to basically be remade 1:1 with rpg maker's.

future games will at least have tilesets from DLCs or other creators selling their tileset packs, i just didn't have the money to see my original vision through so tilesets are the one thing i kind of left alone.

several years ago, i got to a point in rocket league where i was getting so mad at not just losing games, but losing plays, that i would be throwing my controller and smashing my fist on my table. it got so bad that once, i threw my controller down the hallway and almost broke it completely.
it was at that point that i decided to stop playing rocket league, and stop playing games i didn't like playing in general. these days, if i find myself not enjoying a game experience, then i won't play anymore. there are SO MANY games out there to play, and so many other things to do in general, that it isn't worth beating your head against a wall to try and inch out any slight bit of satisfaction as you can from something. not for a video game, especially.
