@PurpCat "I have a vagina" with 5 o clock shadow is crazy
@r000t @matrix so it's more like they are expecting/projecting Harris to win and making graphics for it, and then accidentally broadcasting the graphic? That makes sense, I have made graphics in that way before for streams of tournaments. I've always just tested them offline though, never had one slip through the cracks, and I'm not even a professional.
@picandor yeah that's weird to me, I don't really have thoughts appear out of thin air like that. If an intrusive thought is one that causes distress, for me it would be that the thought comes around because I am already distressed. Or any mood correlating to any thought, for that matter.
Impulsive thoughts I get, I guess? It's usually something I liken more to an idea though, like "hey wouldn't it be funny if I rolled out of the car instead of getting out like a normal person?" Like 99% of the time I have an impulsive thought it's for the sake of comedy I just have to take a moment to decide how funny it would be VS how socially acceptable it is in the current context.
Maybe I'm just deranged though who knows lol.
@xianc78 strange man with a hyper focus on niche technologies is awkward when trying to make jokes. Crazy.
@picandor I don't understand the idea of intrusive thoughts. It's not like someone or some other force is planting them in my brain. They're coming from my brain, how can they be intrusive? Sometimes I have weird things I think of but they're not intrusive and I always know the reason for them being there. Do people really have that??
@LukeAlmighty I like it when games come with benchmarks or, at the very least, images of what each graphic setting does alongside the toll they will take on your system. Also the same reason demos are nice, since you can dial in stuff before playing the proper game.
This is another reason why people like consoles though, too. You don't have to fiddle around with any of that, the game just is the way it is.
@lnx much appreciated!
@Mitsu I hope both you and the bunny can feel better soon
Okay, systems are up and running for https://botsinbox.net. Bot accounts can be bought through my ko-fi https://ko-fi.com/archdog for $1/month/bot.
Feedback is very much welcome and wanted! Currently limiting the number of slots until I'm completely confident in how it'll scale.
@ada @hellpie I have seen some bots on there post the same images several times and I only very casually follow them. That certainly would have been a good idea, since the way most people use bots like that is to just have a post from them show up on their feed every once in a while. If I want to look at a bunch of pictures of foxes l can just look that up, I don't have to go to a bot on a certain instance to do that.
Dear fox friends,
as you might have read, botsin.space will shut down next month/year. We already have a new home you can follow
@toomanyfoxes@icy.arcticfluff.eu
This will be a "soft migration" and you can already follow the new one to spread out load on my server and to avoid bugs with the mastodon move function.
Some time later this month I will initiate the normal account move to bring everyone over automatically. This account here will keep posting until mid December.
See you on the other side >^.^<~
botsin.space PSA
@muffinista RIP, I follow some bots on here. Godspeed to you and all the people who want to keep their bots going.
botsin.space PSA
Hey friends, it's hard to write this, but it's time to retire botsin.space. I wrote a post about it here: https://muffinlabs.com/posts/2024/10/29/10-29-rip-botsin-space/
TLDR the site will go read-only on or around December 15th.
I'm so thankful for all the support and good times here ❤️ thanks everyone
OK! Want to self-host your own bots now #BotsInSpace is going away?
I've made the *simplest* possible server just for you!
https://gitlab.com/edent/activity-bot/
Upload two files to your server (index.php and .htaccess), fill in a couple of details, and… that's it!
This is designed for write-only bots. It isn't interactive, it won't store or reply to messages sent to it, but it will post hashtags, links, mentions, and images.
You can see the sample bot @bot
Feedback very welcome!
Ghhh... It's 6am, I'm supposed to be awake to move all day long in an hour and a half. Can't sleep. Really want to work on stuff for my game but the next step is to test a Linux build and my laptop doesn't have Linux and my computer is completely packed. I always get this insane drive to work on shit at the worst times. It's going to be a loooooong day.
@LukeAlmighty it's crazy that games from 20 years ago have a more stable picture than current gen games do. There's no stuttering, no weird shimmering and ghosting, reflections aren't noticeably incorrect and shifting all the time, transparency is actual transparent instead of dithered... I could go on. Even 10 years ago none of this was really an issue. Sure, models and textures aren't of objectively higher quality, but there's nothing in the game that is just constantly ripping you out of the immersion. I actually end up needing to turn screen space reflection off in a lot of games because of how weird it can look. I tend to not use raytracing because of how things can get smeared with it on (which is only just now starting to be kind of fixed).
And of course, not only is the image significantly harder to look at, the games run like shit too and there isn't nearly as much artistry as there used to be. Those old games were running on systems that were using under 1gb of slow RAM.
