Think a lot about how r rated movies always have actors dub over profanity with FCC friendly language and I'm waiting for them to start doing this with older movies with soundalikes to remove "racist/sexist/lgbtphobic" jokes/language

@lanodan Until you realize that people who were three years old when the Wii came out are old enough to post on most imageboards. But then you also realize that the last official Wii game was released two years ago.

New malicious hardware

A new form of malicious hardware: CPUs with circuits that won't allow it to work if moved to some other brand of computer.

Does this have an effect on software freedom? I don't see that it does, but it is nasty in any case.

@beardalaxy The only other Star Fox game I played was Command but that is a completely different beast and that game had all range battles and a turn-based strategy element. However, I was only eight when I played it and I could never beat a single level. My older brother played it the most (and he grew up with SF64).

RS was linear in terms of level progression, last time I checked. There are a few bonus missions but that's about it. I think the ability to replay missions and unlock more ships makes up for it though.

Rogue Squadron's music was awesome because Factor 5 wrote their own sound drivers for the game. They pretty much rewrote the N64s firmware which is why it is impossible to emulate that game.

And this maybe an unpopular opinion, but if Nintendo is really finding new ways to innovate the Star Fox franchise, I wouldn't mind them trying to experiment with a Rogue Squadron or Ace Combat style Star Fox game. I wouldn't think it would be too big of a departure like Command was.

Well I guess Pleroma is pretty much abandonware at this point.

Did not see that coming.

@shebang I think it works differently than the connect. The EyeToy uses basic color detection while the Kinect uses machine learning to detect skeletal tracking. This ended up being a problem with the EyeToy because anything moving in the background will be detected and registered.

I don't know if it could be possible to use it with VR but it would have to be used in a place where it is guaranteed that nothing in the background would move.

The worst part of the game has to be your allies. They don't help at all and it's just a chore to keep them alive. It feels like an escort mission most of the time.

I also don't understand why there is so much hype for this game (or the franchise in general). It's just a 3D rail-shooter. It's pretty fun, but I don't get why it's considered one of the greatest games of all time.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by more free-roaming shooters like Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

So, I played Star Fox 64 for the first time. Turns out I suck at it, but just playing it makes me realize how much I relate to Slippy. In fact Slippy is perfect commentary on how you shouldn't send autistic people to war.
