@beardalaxy I don't. I haven't played the Wii U version, but I know the Switch version has mostly everything unlocked by default and that's no fun. Though I haven't downloaded the DLC, so maybe that would change my view.

Just picked up the BattleDock for Switch 2! This thing is so cool, it adds a piece to the dock that replicates the look of a GameCube and actually has functioning controller ports! It has swappable faceplates and comes with all the retail colors :) Super sick. It's only $40 and you can use the code "GCG" at checkout for 10% off!

@xianc78 every "fake 3d" racer is dog shit. At the time Mario kart 64 was a big step up from that so I would say it's way better than SMK and Super Circuit but obviously it's still not good by today's standard

Everyone says that Mario Kart 64 hasn't aged well at all (which is true), but I go even further than that. Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart Super Circuit have also aged terribly. SMK has probably aged the worst because CPUs can use items whenever they want. The Mario Kart series didn't get good until Double Dash.

@mansalia@social.maid.zone I saw the website and my immediately gut reaction was "Is this Drew Devault?"

Maintining a fork of a project that does not allow LLM code just because they might do so somewhere in the future when it can be done responsibly is a waste of time. Better spent actually forking rsync or something instead.

Re: https://human-emacs.org/

Y'all are stupid motherfuckers. Seriously getting mad at the only project that has a reasonable take on LLM code which is "We will wait until the dust settles" and you fuckers are complaining NOOO YOU HAVE TO PICK A SIDE!!!!!

@xianc78 it's not for the pc port, but there is a mod called Amped Up for the original ROM. it adds an incredible amount of stuff. it even has an experimental 60fps mode.

Communities still have a voice. Contracts can be challenged. Public officials can be questioned. Policies can be changed.

History is full of ordinary people who decided enough was enough.

'Like my lover': Chinese users bid farewell to AI companions

@NSonic79 No. The actual anti-piracy measure was a wobble on the disc.

So I just learned that the Mario Kart 64 PC Port already exists. It's called "Spaghetti Kart". There aren't any worthwhile mods for it yet, but the program adds a bunch of quality of life features such as disabling the rubber-banding AI and being able to play multiplayer without compromises (the original game would cut off music if played with 3 or more players).

I'm still of the camp who thinks that the game hasn't aged well, but this is much better than the vanilla N64 game. I bet it would be better when people start adding mods that replace the sprites with 3D models.

You are not "prone to sensory overload". You just prefer quiet, less crowded, and less chaotic places. Either that, or you are pretending to have some neurological condition just to be a kill joy.

Even if "sensory overload" is real. It does not mean that the world has to cater to you. I am so fucking sick and tired of hearing people demanding that we get rid of rock concerts, firework shows, laser shows, sports bars with multiple TVs, etc just because your brain can't handle all that sensory input. Don't go to those places if you can't handle all that stimuli. Go to the library, coffee shop, the park (when no events are going on), or just stay home.

Regarding the suspension of Telegram's domain name:

"The structural reason this happened is not that Identity Digital or DomainME made a poor judgment call. It is that OFAC's civil enforcement operates under a strict-liability standard: US persons and entities with a US nexus face civil penalties for any facilitation of a transaction involving a Specially Designated National, regardless of whether they knew or intended to violate sanctions"

Yea, this law is extremely dangerous and I'd argue it violates the first amendment.

There is a legal concept called prior restraint. It is a legal term for government censorship that blocks information from being published or spoken before it can actually happen. Instead of punishing someone after they say something illegal (like libel or true threats), prior restraint prevents the speech from ever reaching the public. In the United States, it is considered one of the most severe and dangerous violations of the First Amendment.

The US here is preventing the information from reaching the public, not punishing the speakers after the fact. You could go after the speakers on the sanctions list for speech previously published, but stopping speech (which is what domain suspicion does) stops or otherwise hinders that speech from being communicated in the first place.
