@icedquinn I'm no expert on the history of Jews or the Palestinian people, but from what I can tell, even though that the ethnic Jews may have originated from the area, they were a stateless nation for the longest time. They were mostly nomadic, like gypsies and their diaspora eventually brought them to Europe.

>Mixing your political beliefs with what your want to support in the FOSS world should be shamed as being morally void.
Well there are some who view FOSS as an anti-capitalist movement, even though Stallman and the FSF have said the contrary (I'd even argue that FOSS is even more capitalist than proprietary software because it gives everyone the right to profit off of it). So, naturally you have a bunch of far-leftists who just use the FOSS movement to push their socialist agenda, and they view that anyone with opposing beliefs has no place in the FOSS community, and that's how you get these Drew DeVault and Aral Balkan types.
@icedquinn I'm not advocating for it, but I know there are a few out there (namely those who believe in Christian Identity) who want it.
@coolboymew The manual for the original PC88 version was in hardcover, and even included a catalog for other games. Falcom really loved to put a lot of work in their packaging back then.
@coolboymew The manual for the first game has a backstory and it is written as a re-telling of Adol's journals.

@coolboymew The stories in the Ys games are just in-universe retellings of what Adol wrote in his journals, published by some unknown writer centuries after his death. In other words, they are supposed to be in-universe history books.
I'm wondering if this book is written like that.
@coolboymew I wonder if it is written like Adol's journals.
@djsumdog @iska There is a GitHub repository explaining the drama.

Also, sponsorships in general seem to be controversial in the FOSS community because unlike regular donations, strings can be attached and they can change the direction of the project if the project is relying on said sponsorships. What makes Anduril unique is that their technology is used to enforce the US-Mexico border, so naturally you are going to have some open-borders leftists screeching about it.
I think more game studios (namely those who produce freeware and FOSS games) should be funded via crowd-tipping sites like Patreon or Liberapay. That way, they can receive a regular income while giving there games away for free. It seems like a better way to do the donationware model than just one-time donations. It might even be better than relying on game purchases, depending how often people buy your games.

@KryptoBlok @deprecated_ii I should've explained this to my mom when she thought that the website project I had in mind was unethical.
In case you are wondering, it would be a repository of free-to-use reference voices for AI voice cloning software. I haven't found any site that offers them and just using any voice leads to legal issues (personality rights laws). I thought of a site where people can upload a sample voice clip of themselves so it can be used in any project.
