“Have you ever wanted to fly across a border more than 40 times in one minute? No? As of last month, you can do it anyway: By hopping on a swing in the towns of Baarle-Hertog-Nassau, you can fly from the Netherlands into Belgium and back.”

With the recent news about the SPLC funding the culture war, I wonder if anyone who has ever been real-named doxxed and fired for expressing such views could just apologize to their former employer and say, "Sorry. I was a victim of SPLC's psyop."

Sir, more DeVault posts have hit the timeline.

everyone talks about the SPLC thing but what about the real thing: how they psyopped autists into caring about politics and shit instead of having their special interests of obscure anime, speedrunning mario, and whacking it to pokemon. those interests had to go.

@SuperDicq @fiore @kimapr @mirq I was never on the Discord, but Vaxry said on his blog that the "victim" of the who/cares incident didn't take their own pronouns seriously and openly stated it was to make others angry, which seems to me that the user was most likely just a troll.

@SuperDicq @fiore @kimapr Also, he has only apologized for the whole IUD statement. I have not seen him apologize for hijacking a calculator forum that wasn't his by working his way up to moderator status, only to delete their IRC channel and a thread on someone else's calculator language, all because he couldn't win an argument against someone. I don't care if he was a teenager at the time. Having extreme opinions is common for teens but even during my teenage years I would have never done anything like that.

What about the apology for slandering Vaxry? Even if the behavior on the Hyprland Discord is locker-room like, it doesn't change the fact that Drew was lying about the "who/cares" victim as Vaxry has stated that the user didn't take their own pronouns seriously and was most likely a troll, and Drew knows this because it is clear that he read the blog post.

He has a lot more apologizing to do and he needs to admit that he is wrong, and stop treating everyone with different opinions as threats to society.

@kirby@freerobuxextremist.com @fiore@brain.worm.pink Yeah I read that.

I mean sure I can believe that he probably changed his mind on some his terrible opinions over the years. So he can be all like "I'm good now, I learned my lesson" and stuff.

But why doesn't he give the other people that he "cancels" the same treatment?

Stallman has also definitely changed his mind on some opinions that people still bother him with today you know? Where's his credit?

@kimapr@ublog.kimapr.net @fiore@brain.worm.pink I'm personally all for being able to redact statements and give people a second chance. And no, I don't really care about what someone masturbates to either. I probably also own pornographic material that some people might find objectionable.

The real issue I have with Drew Devault is that he is extremely hypocritical. He does not allow other people to retract their statements and apologize like he is doing now.

So that's why I don't take this seriously as long as he does not accept the same thing coming from the other people that he has "cancelled".

With Windows 9x Subsystem for Linux you can run all your favourite Windows and Linux apps side-by-side with a modern Linux kernel running cooperatively with the Windows kernel in ring 0. And unlike modern WSL, no hardware virtualisation is used so even your 486 can run it!

Please enjoy, I think this might be one of my greatest hacks of all time

So much this.

People don't understand just how much of a problem degeneration is in technical fields. Just copying something without a high level understanding of it can cause irreparable problems.

People have had to deal with this long before A.I.
This is why so much software gets scrapped and has to be remade from scratch, which is only possible when there's enough competent people to do that, something A.I will reduce the supply of.

I know for a fact that there are high level organizations running systems that handle critical functions where there is no one on the team who knows how the system fully works.

So it seems that my old 2017 laptop doesn't support the lighting system required for my new horror game. WebGL stuff. I'm now stuck in between two options.

1) Keeping the lighting dynamic (and much easier to create) but raise the minimum required specs

2) Making all the lighting static (harder to do and weird looking if in motion) but keeping the game playable on potatoes

Anyone got some insight? I'm genuinely not sure which to go with.

I need to learn techniques for generating storm sounds

like yeah I can filter white noise and use LFOs and stuff but how do I get the pitter patter of rain? How do I get realistic sounding thunder at various distances? These things have surely been studied right

Not to mention that AI model collapse will happen once AI generated data massively exceeds human generated data to the point that it will start feeding off of it's own data, leading to worse output.
