@Jazzy_Butts a big way to combat this would be to require the plaintiff to pay the legal fees of the defendant if they plaintiff loses the case. that would combat a lot of problems with the court system in general. perhaps it wouldn't be the entirety of the legal defense payment, but adjusted relative to the net worth of the plaintiff.
imagine what emulation would be like today if bleem didn't go bankrupt from sony's lawsuit, even though bleem won. the little guys just don't have money to throw at the wall like big corporations do. they can claim as much as they want that someone is violating their copyright or IP, even if it isn't the case, and the defendant will either have to pony up in court and lose a bunch of money to prove a point, or simply give in. most people are not in a position to fight that sort of thing even though, in a LOT of scenarios, they definitely could win the case.
it's scare tactics, mainly.
@Jazzy_Butts @bitterblossom @LukeAlmighty i also don't like how a lot of sims let you customize every single fucking aspect of the car, it's really overwhelming and always makes me feel like i'm not doing something right or i could be tweaking something better to the point where i may as well just look up a guide or use someone else's build instead of doing it myself because i have no idea what the hell is going on.
but i know there are people who love the fuck out of cars who probably REALLY enjoy being able to do all of that and like the way the handling feels, so that's good for them. just not for me :) i wanna go fast and kick ass.
@Mr_NutterButter it's KIND OF related to the subject, but you can do it so more tactfully than just putting in actual news footage and shitting on people for having a different and i think very valid opinion. why not just talk about the subject as it pertains to the game instead of trying to tie it into some real life hate boner? it's preachy and lame and that's the kind of shit that happens all the time now. you can still make a powerful statement without being so combative about it.
@Jazzy_Butts @bitterblossom @LukeAlmighty i like arcade racers way more, they have always felt way smoother to control and that's the thing i like the most in my video games. fuck realism, i want to be able to drift by pushing one button and have it feel satisfying as fuck.
i think racing sims, or games that are adjacent to that, are much better played with a wheel and pedals, not a controller.
@Jazzy_Butts @LukeAlmighty it is actually one of the worst rubberbanding racing games ever lol, if you're in first place they can go faster than using a star powerup to overtake you. i think you may be able to lap an AI that's in last place or even 7th, but 2nd and 3rd will be right there with you the whole time.
@Jazzy_Butts @LukeAlmighty define "modern" because racing games have been doing this forever. mario kart on the snes and mario kart 64 are two of the biggest examples of rubber banding ai in racing games.
idk if i saw any of that in forza, but i didn't play it for very long. it seemed less focused on racing against other vehicles and more focused on just getting good times, though.
funny that 4090 is in the title even though this game is DEFINITELY not causing the 4090 to work hard at all. the bottleneck is just java at this point
@LukeAlmighty btw i hated forza, it's what made me go and play hot wheels lol
@LukeAlmighty are you talking about forza? because yeah, they're just AI cars that use the profile of real players, including the way their cars look.
@Mr_NutterButter it's not the amount of information you know, it's the amount of information you think you know that you stress over.
@Mr_NutterButter i'm already screaming in the chorus xD
from 6-12 on tuesday everyone will be gone so that's when i'll do the rest of the vocals but holy shit that means i'll only have a matter of hours to mix it and make sure it sounds good before i have to submit it.
don't procrastinate, kids ![]()
